Should I now be looking for a preschool for my 10 month old baby. I live in San Francisco and wonder if there is a large waiting list. I plan to take him when he turns 3 years old.

Start looking now. I'm assuming San Francisco is like any other major city, and the good preschools have long waiting lists. I started looking with my son at 9 months... we started interviewing when he was 16 months! Got him into the one I wanted when he was 2 1/2. I know its crazy, its worse than applying to colleges these days!!

Definitely start looking. Get referrals from friends, check out licensing, stop by for visits. Once you make your choice, find out if there is a waiting list - if so - GET ON IT. Then make a follow-up phone call every 6 months to keep your name on the active waiting list.

I live in a small city, and I put my baby on the waiting list of my preschool of choice when I was 5 months pregnant. We did not get in until he was two.

Good luck!

I would definetly look now to see what is out there.
If not, check with local churches for programs.

I was a preschool teacher for 1yr olds and then moved up to the 3yr old's..
Actually it was called Mother's Morning Out program.
It was only 3 hours a day, two times a week.

I think it is wonderful to get children out early to have them interact with other children.
And they actually have fun.

Children that have some sort of interaction with other children and a control environment do much better in kindergarten.
They know how to act, play and usually have a jump on learning when they enter kindergarten then other children.

It's never too early. My daughter is 1 and I put her in a in home pre-school about 2 months ago and she is learning so much and just loves it! I think it is very healthy for the mind...
