I have a 5 year old step daughter who sleeps with her mother in her mothers bed at her home. On the weekend she has her own room here and can not share the bed with us. We have done everything she has wanted with her room down to giving her a flash light to use in her room and putting her room right next to ours. I dont know what else to do. She screams and crys and throws fits to the point she makes herself sick. We are looking at getting her full time and need to get this resolved.

and he is only 4 1/2 years old
he eat cookies from the jar all day long and whenever he asks for some sugar-type of bread, my sister says NO then he asks again and begs for about 30seconds and she gives in and gives it to him with a big glass of cow's milk.
he eats sugary cereal and food
he isnt obese or that much over-weight but that's not even the reason, the point is that this can't be healthy for him at all
I'm his aunt and i care for him, even though im only 14 I'm somewhat of a health freak and in the process of being 100% vegetarian.
i need some help of convincing my sister this is so bad for him
when i see her give in to him i tell her "gosh your gonna make him fat." your feeding him to a heart attack" "thats disgusting, give him an apple instead" "he already had 10 chocolate chip cookies, hes gonna get sick.."
but NO she doesn't seem to care.

help.
i want to make him healthier.
i know it's not my job to RAISE him but i want him to be healthy

My little girl is just coming up to 18months and she has been showing signs of being ready to be potty trained for a while now. I took her out yesterday so we could choose a potty together and we ended up with two that she liked. The thing is, when I tried her out on it yesterday afternoon it didnt go too well, she was more than happy to sit on it if she wasnt doing anything but as soon as she started to wee and I tried to sit her on the potty she started to cry and tensed up so I couldnt sit her down, she stopped herself from weeing aswell so I know she has bladder control. I have tried allsorts to get her to go on the potty but she simply refuses, I keep reassuring her but nothing is working. Have any of your children gone through this? Are you just starting potty training and can any of you give me any tips?

Thanks in advance x

My little cousin's are having a birthday party today and I need a gift. They love movies but they have a LOT so I want to make sure I buy the absolute newest DVD that has JUST come out What are the newest kids/family DVDs released this month that are appropriate for children ages 2~5? (one child is almost 4 years old and the other is turning 3 this week) They have almost ALL the Disney & Pixar Movies, Baby Genius, Wiggles, Thomas the Train, etc...so I need some suggestions of movies that have been released within the last week (or released in the last 2 or 3 weeks.) If it isn't really new or an amazing movie that is obscure that they are unlikely to have... than they will most definitely own it already. The party is TODAY at noon, so I need to know the suggestions by 10am today to be able to get to the store in time. Thanks!!!!

I've been hearing that through this stage they should be forming short sentences. He understands when to sit down and he babbles when he does try to communicate. Should I wait to see what happens in the next couple of months to see if this improves? He does have a doctor appt coming up next week, but I just wanted to know what other parents go through during this stage.

My ex and I have joint custody of our children. My 2 1/2 year old is the only one we have problems with. The other two children are handling it well. We both have decided to have the same rules, same bedtime, ect......nothing has changed exept for we both are living in different houses.
My toddler is throwing extreme fits. She always wants her way, I have never spoiled her myself. She is angry. Bites, pulls hair n screams just to get her way or attention. She will do things outright rotten, like sneak in the bathroom n dump out the shampoo for attention. This week she has also refused nap time, which I feel she needs.
I know this is the time for the terrible two's. But this is just enough. Neither of my older two children are this bad.
Anyone who has had experience, and made it through can you give me some advice or words of wisdom. I am at wits end here.

My daughter (22 months) sleeps in a cot but has started to climb out of her sleeping bag (she stands on the bottom of it and "pops" the shoulder poppers then shimmies out). She is very restless when sleeping so, with a sheet and blanket, she ends up uncovered and sometimes (even though the weather is warming up) gets cold and wakes up. She hasn't started even trying to climb out of the cot yet, though.
What made you decide it was time to make the big change?

almost a year ago he was sitting on the potty well, losing intrest in his binki, blanky, and bottle.....actually used them only in bed. Then we lost our house to a fire....his blanket was with us and noone was home....he regressed deeply. Our Daughter was 8 and went through counsling and seems to be fine now. we then where tossed around for a while moving ever couple of months....moved states twice....things have been in a very heavy state of upheavle sence. he is using the potty all the time, and has completely gotten rid of his bottle. But the blanket has to go EVERYWHERE with us, and his binki too....it's even a huge fight to wash the blanket, can get him to leave them in the car once in a while but, not often and never at the house with out us. Should I be pushing this or just continue to ride it out?

My 18 month daughter scribbled pen on several of our walls. I have tried Comet, hair spray, vegetable oil, Windex, Oxyclean and soap and water. Nothing works. My mother-in-law used to manage an apartment complex, and suggested using TSP. I've never used it before, but I know that it has strong fumes, and I'll have to send the rest of the family out while I'm working with it. Does anyone have any other suggestions, or experience with TSP?

My son is 33 months and we are starting to worry if he may have autism. He has a speech delay, although he speaks over 50 maybe 75 words but most of them are not clear .Also he has a behavioral problem - when we praise him for something he did , he gets mad , or also when we buy him a new toy , he throws it (but then he likes it) ,he opens and closes doors all the time, turns off and on the light, lines up in a perfect line about 30 cars, plays with the piano most of the day, likes to play or read books by himself instead with me or his 4 yr old brother , he throws tantrums ...are these autism symptoms or is normal...other parents experience this with their child? Or also can it be that he feels somehow less or left behind than his older brother that can talk,do puzzles, knows alphabet ,etc ?

What are your suggestions?

Hi, my almost 12 month old daughter is not eating as much as she used to. She used to love fruit: bananas, kiwies, strawberries, etc., but now she won´t eat any of these. For breakfast she only has about 5 cheerios and nothing else. She just keeps her mouth closed after these 5 cheerios. She won´t take anything from the spoon either...She is still drinking 24 oz. of formula each day and that is not a problem. She looks healthy and has a lot of energy otherwise. Did you have similar experiences? Is this just a phase? Thanks in advance!

Can anyone tell me what actually goes on in an Early Invervention evaluation for a two year old? And can you tell me if you can cancel out of the program at any time? When i referred my daughter I thought that she may have a delay. In the last three weeks there has been an explosion of language (yes, and a lot of temper tantrums too). I think they are going to come and tell me to stop wasting their time. What do you advise?

My 15-month old had some vaccines today, MMR and hib and all afternoon when she walks, it's like she's slightly limping. It seems to be the leg that she got the MMR in; I was just wondering if maybe it's just sore and making her walk like that; if anyone knows.

My son's 2nd birthday party is next weekend. We are going with a beach theme, making steak fish tacos (for the adults) and snack foods for the kids, and having it at the park. There will be seven children total, all 2 years old. Please give me some good ideas for age-appropriate party activities.

I thought about going to Disney but I am 7 months pregnant and it wouldnt be fair to have her get on the rides alone. She wanted to go on a 3 day cruise but due to the pregnancy that wouldnt be smart.
I thought about a Broadway show (we live in NY) but its too expensive.

I was putting my little boy into the carseat yesterday (he's 2) and he held up his hands at me and said...my hands are tired. with a sad little look on his face. i am thinking he has heard me and my husband talking about being tired after work or something....well later that night he goes to my husband and tells him the same thing and puts his hands up to him for him to look at them. isn't that strange? have your kids ever done that? i am watching him to see if he does it again so i can take him to the dr if it seems like they start to bother him. thanks for your input!

My four and a half year old son asked for the training wheels off his bike, and then learned that it's not as easy as it looks. Before taking them off, we told him they don't go back on. Now he wants them back. Do I make him keep them off and risk him hating the bike or put them back on, which means going back on what I said?
