The toy my 15month old son plays with the most is a stacking toy with the different colored donut shaped rings that you put on the stick. Its a toy that's been around forever and he loves it. Bubbles are good. Movies, faves around here are the Wiggles, Little Einsteins, Elmo, and Dora the Explorer. We also have a Ralph's World CD that we listen to on long drives and it has been a life savor. My 15month old is just starting to get into it but my 2.5 year loves to dance in his seat to it.

Glo Worms are $10 at Wal-Mart. Also Fisher Price Little People are fun and cheap. Pull toys are fun for this age too. So are small rider toys with no pedals that they can scoot around on.

my 1 yr old could get any toy under the sun, she plays with it for 5 min and thats it.
The only thing she loves, is sidewalk chalk! I let her play with it for a long long time, and even still when i pick her up to go inside she cries bloody murder!

I'd spend a little more and buy a savings bond for $25. She will not care about a toy today, but will love it when it comes time for college.

the good old gift certificate is great; since she may have a wonderland of play at home. A savings bond for education is good ($25. gets a $50 bond).

Wood blocks.
Or I got my friend a cool wood train that came apart but was easy enough for a one year old to put together.
