My son goes outside with me in his underwear sometimes while I am watering the flowers or he wants to jump in the pool for a quick swim. I see nothing wrong with this. But his dad who came to pick him up had a fit. He wouldn't explain why he was mad about it. So, I am just wondering what the community thought. Thanks

If he's trailing you about and you go in the yard to water the garden...what's the problem with that? I think it's fine. What are you going to do...look at him and firmly tell him to go put his pants on or he can't follow you outdoors? I agree that children will regulate themselves as far as when the time is right for not going into the yard in their unders...As for papa-who knows? If he has a problem with the situation, he should discuss it with you so that you may consider his POV-not get mad and clam up and make you feel bad.

I don't see a problem with it. I've found that by the time its probably not socially acceptable for your kids to run around outside in underwear, they become too self concious on their own to do it. I know my son just turned 6, and he's ok with his immediate family seeing him in his underwear, but would be very embaressed if anyone else did. If your son is ok with it, I say let it be.

A baby is ok outside wearing just a diaper, but a 5 year old is a bit old for that. If he's going to be outside at least but some shorts on him.

This is how I am going to potty train my son! Of course, I live in the country. I see nothing wrong with a 5 year old in his undies...as long as he is peeing in public. I don't like to see them in Wal*mart at that age in undies....but in your own yard or home...no harm done!

yes i think is bad you are just showing him that is ok for him to be outside with just underwear! Then he is going to get older and think is ok still, then you'll be having problems on telling him no because you thought it was ok when he was younger!

he's a bit too old to run around outside in his underwear. short or his swim trunks are better. he needs to learn how to present himself to the public.
