your daughter is old enough to find her own job, she doesn't need your help. I was 15 when I started working and I found the job myself. I use to walk to work or find a ride when it was too cold, it was NOT close to my house. Chances are she will be going off to college soon so maybe it would be good for her to find a job at a restaurant that is popular and she can transfer to a new store when she goes to school.

No offence but your 17 year old daughter needs to get off her butt and find her own job. My little sister is going through this now age 16 1/2 and my mom finally took away her allowence, and stopped paying her cell bill etc until she got off her butt and went out to turn in applications.
Good luck

My sister is applying at clothing stores and some food service (like subway)

Um.... YOU don't. You send her out to find her own job. I had 2 when I was 15. I babysat for the neighbor and worked at a local dry cleaners. She's old enough to do it on her own and there certainly are enough places that will hire a 17 year old. It's time you let her grow up.

She needs to find a job herself, but you can help her by taking job applications from a few places in town, and giving them to her. Have her fill a couple out as "practice," and look them over afterwards before she actually hands one in. Give her a few pointers as to how she can improve them. Help her pick out a couple of appropriate outfits for interviews. Then, let her take responsibility for doing the rest.

What is she thinking about doing as a career?

If she is interested in the medical field have her apply at the hospitals and nursing homes in your area.

If she is interested in veternary apply at the veterinary offices.

If she is interested in the restaurant field have her apply at local restaurants and catering business.

If she is interested in fashion or merchandising have her apply at the mall.

Cosmetology? Many salons and spas have teen age assistants that help the stylists.

Some businesses like hospitals and other large companies may help her with college expenses if she pursues a career in their line of business.

If she only wants to work for extra money and during the summer have her try greenhouses, farmer's markets and lifeguarding.

Depends on what she looks like. Hate to say it but if your 17 year old is a pretty girl and has some smarts, then a clothing job or public relations, if she is a beastly Lane Bryant shopper....Welcome to Wal-Mart, would you like a sticker? and lastly if she is one of those just plain stupid kids, might I suggest Chuck-E-Cheese.

Give her a time line to find her own job but after that, you get what daddy finds you and have fun doing it.

She needs to find her own job. Send her to the mall BY HERSELF (it's frowned upon for someone to apply for a job with family or friends in tow) with instructions to apply for jobs at whatever stores interest her.

She needs to find her own job, she's old enough. How about the mall or fast food?
