My son will be turning 3 next month. I want to get him a board game, but the problem with board games that are meant for his age, is that he already knows his ABC's (upper and lowercases) and how to count to 20. (Known since he was 20 months old.) He gets bored with things he already knows, and games that are meant for kids ages 6 and over are a bit too much for him. Do you know any games that are in-between? Anything that teaches counting over 20, and how to put letters together to form small words.

I have been searching the internet trying to find a website on the development stages of a 31 month old. I'm trying to see where my son is at and which areas I need to work with him. He is behind on his speech but not sure how far. He has had delays with everything since he's been born, eye control, holding head up, sitting up, crawling, walking, talking, etc everything. Some doctors have even mentioned autism. I've taken him to CHKD doctor and they are sending him now to speech therapy and occupational behavioral therapy. He is a very wild child that doen't feel a whole lot of pain. I have to watch every move he makes. He will jump off the top bunk bed and get a knot on his head and it doesn't even faze him. He tries and wraps cord plugs around his neck, he trys and swallows food with out chewing, tries to dive in the bath tub head first. The list goes on and on and on. I could use any help I can get with him... Please help me find a website on this

My 22 month old started vomiting profusely last Thursday. We took him to the doctor and then to the hospital where they kept an eye on him over night. He got better and was fine Saturday and Sunday but the sickness started again on Monday. He was taken back into hospital and put on a drip until Wednesday. He was fine until Thursday morning but has started to be sick again.
We don't know what is wrong. The only thing that is different is that we have had a kitten.Could it be something to do with that or is it just a virus that is persistant. Would be grateful for some advice!

My son is 16-months old. He has always been very energetic and has a "vibrant personality". He is driving me crazy lately. I know he is testing me. I can see it in his beady little eyes. He has been pulling my hair, pulling the dogs tails and pulling plugs out of outlets. I tried telling him no and redirecting his attention. I tried smacking his hands when he messed with the outlets because even though I don't agree with smacking, I figured that was better than getting shocked. Well, apparently he likes getting his hands slapped because he laughed and seemed to really enjoy it. I was told by my pediatritian that it was too early for time out, but yesterday we started with that because I don't know what else to do. I am open to any suggestions. At this point I really don't care if you all say I am a terrible mother who can't get her child under control. I am just looking for a little something that I can use. I really want him to start to listen to me.

On Monday I took my son to his kinder class and somehow he managed to leave the class room without the teacher noticing. She says that he slipped out and one of the parents who happened to be sitting in the parking lot found him!! The teacher says that he was only out there for 2-3 mins, that's too long isn't it?I went down to the Municipal building to file a complaint, they didn't seem too overly concerned, all they said was that they were going to install a sensor on the door to alert the teacher .Two or three minutes for a three year old to be outside is too long, right?? There are so many different things that could have happened!! Kidnapping, hit by car, lost, dog bite, the list can go on and on!! What should I do now? I filed my complaint but is there something else that I should be doing as well!!Thanks

My 3 year old daughter is a sweet little girl on her own, but when there are other children are around she becomes annoying, whiny, and obnoxious. She screams and throws fits for no reason and she is very disrespectful towards me and everyone around her. It's like she doesn't know how to behave socially. I think I am a good parent and I try my best to show her right from wrong, but lately I feel lost, I don't know what to do. Any suggestions would help. I'm tired of feeling angry all the time, how can I help her, so we can live in peace together. Thanks

I came home unexpected and when I went in the house I heard some noise upstairs. I didn't think anyone was home because there were no cars in the driveway. Anyway, I went into the bedroom and I saw my dad and another guy on the block kind of wrestling without clothes. When he saw me he tried to jump up, but couldn't. I ran out of the room. A few minutes later he came downstairs and said he was doing chyropracting on one of his parishoners (our neighbor Ken). Should I tell my mom?

My 16 month old daughter is very active and advanced in certain areas, such as motor skills, and overall age development. Her speech, on the other hand, has not progressed well. Right now she is only saying 2-3 words total, and according to her Doctor should be saying around 6. The Doctor has suggested playdates and outings as a way to help advance her speech. I'm a Stay at home mother, so I try working with her often, and I take her to playdates atleast 3 times a week. So far, it has not helped. Has anyone had success with this same problem, by putting their child in daycare? Did you notice a difference? Any suggestions, or insight here would be so helpful. I feel like I'm at the end of my rope!

Our 2 yr. old son is in a toddler bed in our room, he uses a bottle, he gets up 2-3 times a night wanting a refill, he doesn't fall asleep until he watches a Barney or a Baby Einstein Video. All of our other boys, 11, 10 & 7 go to bed by 9:30, our toddler doesn't get sleepy enough to go down until 11pm-12am. What do we do, to get him to go to bed at a descent hour and without that BOTTLE?!?!?!?

I eventually want my daughters to share a room. My oldest will be 3 on Saturday and her sister is 15 months. I was wondering what the best age to put them together would be or if anybody had advice about the transition. I was thinking I'd wait until the youngest went to a toddler bed.

I do not want anyone to attack my husband or say I need to leave him or anything of that sort, I am looking to other women for their input on what their husband does or doesnt do as a comparison.. my husband works alot (65 hours a week) I work 25 hours per week. Our son is 20 months old & I feel like I do everything. He does come home & talk to him for a few minutes & then later he will play with him for a little bit but like on his days off he will go & do stuff (never with son or me) & he never offers to take him anywhere or do stuff with him outside of the house. yesterday he was off all day & my son still had to go to grandpa's because my hubby was busy building stuff in garage, he never feeds him, bathes him, he will change diapers here & there but not alot. I think as a mother I take it personal that he doesnt yearn to be with his son like I do, when I get off work I cant wait to go get him to be with him, but my hubby will opt to stop somewhere or go do something..it angers me

My little niece, Cate, out of nowhere will scratch and pull hair. It is difficult to know what triggors her aggressive behavior. Most times, when she does this stuff, she is sitting on someone's lap, or sitting near her brother and/or sister. I babysit a lot for my sister's children (6 yrs., 3 yrs. and 15 months) and I just do not know what to do. She seems oblivious to timeout (in her crib) or to any sort of discussion on "nice touches". Anybody have any good, constructive ideas? I could really use some help. Thanks so much!

I had 2 boys and things were fine. Boy#2 was mommy's baby and he knew it. I never intentially babied him, but I caught myself doing this quite often. Well, things have *changed* When #2 was almost 2 yrs. old I found out that I was expecting again...suprise! Well, needless to say he didn't take it very well when his sister decided that she was going to stick around. Now, although I can't leave him in a room alone with her, I understand that he is going through the whole "middle child" syndrom thing. He has regressed terribaly; he wants to talk like a baby, he stopped doing thing independantly (dressing himself & brushing his teeth to name a few), but my biggest problem is the fact that he refuses to potty train. The boy will be 4 very soon. He is O.K. with urinating- he has accidents...which is laziness, because he just won't stop playing or watching T.V. to bother. But the boy will NOT have a bowel movement on the potty. He has held it for 2 days! How do I approach this?
