My two year old son still breast feeds and I can't seem to get him to stop. It's not like he does it like when he was younger, it;s mostly when he wants to go to sleep. How do I get him to stop completely or will he stop on his own?

My 3yo son was in a school, he loves the teacher there, but the class is two hours twice a week. I put him in a new school, nice teacher. Its 3 hours,3 days a week. They also do trips, library, fire dept, police dept, ect. They also do sports, along with educational work, art, ect. He cries when I leave him, only a minute and I know adjusting takes time but he asks about his old teacher and wants to go and see that she's really gone for sure. I really want to keep him here and he does like it but he feels a bond with this other teacher. He's been at this new school not even two weeks. I wont always be able to let him pick and choose things like this. Not sure what I should do.

well, i dunno, but me and my boyfriend are arguing about it. he thinks it is wrong, but i know it's right .. it helps baby boys learn to take care of a baby and kinda be a daddy. and i keep telling him, "yeh, once he starts playing with a girl doll, we'll go out and let him pick a baby boy doll." is it wrong?
thanks everyone

My daughter is 19 months old. I think I may be more attached to the bottle then she is. I love seeing her with her bottle. She is still a baby that way. Last night hubby said enough and took it away. He gave her a sippy cup. She was TOTALLY ok with it but I wanted to cry! Anyone else feel like THEY want those things (bottles, pacifiers, etc.) more than their kids? Anyone else feel like their kids are growing up too fast?

Now don't say "she is old enough not to have it". I know that. That is why I let hubby take it. BUT... I did make me sad. Anyone else feel like that?

Hi, my son is 12 months and i do not want to give him processed food, but I am not a very inventive cook. I am struggling to think of food that is homemade and healthy, suitable for his age. Any mums out there with any reciepes or ideas.

When my 19 month old baby was able to say a few words, she would also point out the letters in her alphabet book and correctly name about 80% of them. That was 1 month ago, now she is able to recognize all the capital letters and some of the small letters. Some of my friends could not believe this but they could observe her reading the letters on the license plates of our cars, on shirts and even the letters on the computer keyboard. We didn't expect her to pick up this fast but we did read the letters to her since she was just a 4 month old. Is this so unusual for her age? I'm scared of the responsibilities dealing with a gifted child. Could any of you experts out there help me? Suggest some sites that I can browse. Help very much appreciated.

My toddler is 21 months and can ony sy a few words like mam and bye. He hums most of twinkle twinkle etc.

Development wise he should be saying basic sentances and be able to follow instructions. He can't.

I feel so awful. I study in the afternoons so for two hrs he plays with his toys while I study next to him. We go to toddler group once a week and he stays with a childminder while I study another course on wednesdays. His 4 yr old brother has speech problems too? Is it my fault for not doing enough to help them?

We share 3-4 books a day and look at different flash cards but I rarely have the TV on. I feel so guilty.

Also my 21 month old has started throwing temper tantrums. Is this right for his age?

My husband and i live in a small one bedroom apartment with our ten month old daughter. We are planning to buy a nice place in two years, when some bonds we have mature.
However, we can afford to rent a much bigger place, and give our daughter her own room. (We are in no hurry to kick her out of our room, but her own play room at least would be nice)
Would you stay in the small apartment and save the extra money that could be used towards the home you will purchase in two years, or rent a larger, family sized apartment for those two years?

I am thinking about being a child care provider at home. As we know outside play is crucial for children, and I will be caring for 6 toddlers. I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex. Any suggestions on how to get 6 toddlers down three flights of stairs to the outside by myself, without leaving them alone downstairs while I get the other children?

Seems to me that too much is going on at one time:
- my daughter is pregnant with their second (due in Sept.)
- is trying to wean their daughter from nursing

- I personally believe she's not ready to potty train-- isn't even aware of when she 'wets'.
I am concerned about too many changes for her.
- ----and that the parents are concerned about the cost and effort of 2 in diapers.

- I have suggested to them, it's too much for her and that she is too young. She's already out of her crib and uses a bed.

Maybe I am just too protective, but I believe in letting kids be kids and let 'Potty Training' start when they show signs of 'being ready'........ Any suggestions?

Thank You for any ideas on this one!

My 4 year old son has had alot of behavioral problems for a couple years, it seems like every week it gets worse. I have tried all kinds of different ways to disipline him and nothing works. He gets mad at almost nothing, throws fits, hits, yells, and is hyperactive and I don't know why he acts like this. I was doing some research and came across a website that said kids who have food allergies may act out in this way and sometimes it is mistaken for ADHD. Has anyones kid acted out this way from a food allergy? He drink milk like crazy and love chocolate and lots of other diary products.

I am a single mother, who is in the military and deployed to Iraq. I deployed right after my daughter's 1st birthday. I am going home for 2 weeks in May and I'll be home from deployment in August. I just wonder if my daughter is going to remember this time and if she will feel resentful. I'm having a hard time with this because I have missed so many of her milestones, such as walking, talking and potty-training. I talk to her on the phone and send pictures and videos, but its still very difficult. My mother told me that a child never forgets the its mother's scent or the sound of thier voice. I'm just wondering how hard will it be for us to readjust to each other when I return.

Ok,this is coming down to complete differences in culture.I am an American living in Thailand.
People are extremely communal here. Not just the poor, even middle class to upper class families will sleep with their children sometimes up until 10.Yes,I know this sounds insane to westerners but it is true.
My wife and I needed to go back to America for some months after my mothers death and Thai grandma suggested we leave our 3 year old son to stay with her. She's a great lady but it was a big mistake. She slept with him every night for the whole time like a mother hen and now he is addicted to sleeping with people.I love my child with all of my heart but I cannot sleep with him everyday. It's not just because I need to sleep for work but because I don't want him to grow up with lack of independance and fear of being alone like Thai people have. Please give me some advice on how to break this habbit he's developed or a good website to read.Thank you.

I'm a stay-at-home Mom by day and work four nights a week in 5 hour shifts at a store as that's all that's open after my husband gets home from work. I feel as if I never get out other than this as I work to pay the bills and help support our daughter. We don't have any fun money and we're not eligible for food stamps or WIC. Any advice??

We live in an apartment that is old and needs remodel....I mean my fridge and stove are GOLD from the 70's. I'm embarrassed to have people over (if we visit the family, to include in-laws we go and see them as it's an excuse to go out) so having playdates or people over for a party is not an option....I don't entertain.

Also, going to the beach or the park right now is not an option as I live in Wisconsin where the current temperature is 4 degrees

She was throwing up every hour/half hour for 8-9 hours, then again the next afternoon. After that for the next couple of days she had really bad gas (still not completely over that), heartburn, tummy ache and diahrea. she didn't eat for at least 4 days (besides a cracker or some applesauce.
Anyway, point being, it has been 3+ days since she has gotten over all of her symptoms, and she is still very cranky/whiny and will hardly look at anyone but me. She won't even let her dad go in and take her out of her crib when she wakes up from her nap. She also is not eating to well...will take 2-3 bites, then won't swollow. she'll keep the food in her mouth forever, then finally i will ask her to spit it out into her napkin. What's going on here. Is there still something wrong, or is she just not over her sickness yet?

Today it was brought to my attention that my two and half year old drinks a ton and guzzles down every glass, when I say a ton I mean 10 large sippey cups during the day and one or two at night. He poops constantly, usually dirraeha constantsy, and is always fussy for no reason. He also urnates a ton peeing through diapers is not an unusual thing in this house, and he also has unexplanable blistery diaper rashes which have gotten better by age. He wears cloth diapers, and since he urinates so much I change him almost every hour, so in my oppinon he shouldnt be getting rashes like this. The doctors at one time told me the rashes were caused by milk allergies but he doesnt drink milk at all now and still gets the rashes. Please help Im very conserned!
