Look at all the different medicines. See which one looks best for your situation. I personally get the thin strips........less messy. You can also put a onsie on him, rub some vicks on the onsie, and put p.j.'s over the onsie. Do it that way so it doesn't irritate the skin. Also try a humidifier, or if you don't have one, run very hot water in the tub, and sit in the bathroom with the baby. Read him a book or something.......or toys. The steam works good too.

Over the counter cough syrups really don't work on little babies. The best thing you can do is get a cool mist vaporizer. Motrin for fever, lots of fluids, Popsicles, jello, soup, etc. Warm baths to offer comfort and will help open him up too. As long as the cough is loose, that's good. That means it's trying to come up. It's when the cough gets tight and dry is when I worry. Keep and eye on him and if he doesn't get any better in a day, I would call the doc. It could be asthma also. That's how my son was diagnosed.

Get a humidifier. If you don't have that take the baby in the bathroom and steam it up and that will loosen the mucas. No need for cough medicine if it persits I would suggest using Robitussin (pediatric)

there is not much as far as meds . the doc's don't like to give cough meds to kids that young. i know steaming up the bathroom and letting him/her play in there for 20 mins. and a cool mist humidifier in the bedroom. no milk. lots of fluids. maybe some benedryl to dry up the nose. call your doctor. and good luck. mine has been sick on and off for 5 weeks now.!

Get a humidifier for starters, and ask your pediatrician or pharmacist. They can steer you to the best stuff and away from the snake oil. Now, if the mucus is green, get him to a doc...it's usually a sign of infection. Poor little guy...hope he gets better quick!

You need an expectorant. They thin out the mucus and make the cough more productive. One of the brand names is Mucinex.
They make a children's formula, minimelts, i know you can find them at walgreens or search online for a drugstore in your area that carries it.

My favorite after 3 kiddos is Triaminic night time formula. But please call your dr for the correct dose/reccomendation. There should be someone on call no matter what the time to help you with this. If not, the local pharmacist should be able to advise you as well.

Good luck. nothing as heart wrenching as seeign your baby feeling ill, and not being able to fix it!
