She was throwing up every hour/half hour for 8-9 hours, then again the next afternoon. After that for the next couple of days she had really bad gas (still not completely over that), heartburn, tummy ache and diahrea. she didn't eat for at least 4 days (besides a cracker or some applesauce.
Anyway, point being, it has been 3+ days since she has gotten over all of her symptoms, and she is still very cranky/whiny and will hardly look at anyone but me. She won't even let her dad go in and take her out of her crib when she wakes up from her nap. She also is not eating to well...will take 2-3 bites, then won't swollow. she'll keep the food in her mouth forever, then finally i will ask her to spit it out into her napkin. What's going on here. Is there still something wrong, or is she just not over her sickness yet?

Either her throat is sore, or her stomach hurts when she eats. I imagine she still feels quite bad.

Please respect the fact that your daughter knows that she is feeling bad and is telling you in the only ways she can.

INFLUENZA aka the FLU DOES NOT CAUSE VOMITTING!

What is the Flu?
The flu is something that we get only a few times in a lifetime. It is not an illness that affects the gastro intestinal tract, and does not cause stomach upset or nausea.
The so called stomach flu is not caused by influenza!

The influenza virus is characterized by the following symptoms:

sudden high fever (38° to 40° C)
headache
loss of appetite
severe muscle aches and pain
extreme fatigue and weakness
chills
dry cough
sweating
and sometimes: sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion and sneezing.
Symptoms usually come on quickly and can last for 7 to 10 days. Many other viruses can cause the same symptoms as the flu; only a lab test can verify the actual presence of the influenza virus.5

Call the doctor, just to be sure and give her some time. Even if she isn't showing any symptoms she sounds like she is feeling bad and a bit traumatized about the whole thing. I am guessing you are tired and probably a little traumatized too, i know when my kids get sick, i lose alot of sleep taking care of them and also worrying.

After throwing up for a few days she may be slightly traumatized, especially if she doesn't remember having done it before. At an early age this can scare the bejeebers out of a little one. Try distracting her with puzzles, or other "do alone" activities. Start doing them with her, then slowly let her play by herself. Each child is different, but it may be worth a try. Good luck!

It usually takes a "normal" adult at least a full week to BEGIN to recover from the flu. It takes a child longer, just because she isn't presenting symptoms any longer doesn't mean she's not sick. Give her a break she's a sick kid...but then I guess you were never "clingly" when you were sick as a child huh? As far as eating give her clear soups and broth, as well as jello and juices. Even popciciles,. just to keep her hydrated, she isn't going to feel like eating much for some time.

THe main thing is to keep her hydrated after all that vomiting and diarrhea. Try Pedialyte (my daughter loves the apple flavored). If she still isn't eating much after a couple days, call a doctor.

There is nothing more comforting than a mothers touch when you are sick. The flu is a horrible virus that knocked me for a loop this year 2 weeks it took me (a adult) to recover. I am sure she is not completely over it. Let her get well and back to her old self and I am sure she will be just fine. She feels bad still and still wants that mamas touch.
