My daughter of 19mths, well I have worked with her for so long to learn new words, I have showed her books with the pictures of many objects I have taken her through the kitchen exploring names for everything. I have pointed at all of her body parts again and again saying names... But she doesn't want to say them, she will just scream instead.. I try making it fun, I try to read, but she know no names of objects. Instead she knows weird complex sentences ex: "whats her name?" my aunt pointed at me and asked her, instead of mommy or ma she said "Her name is Marian!!" She heard my name twice maybe because I have a nick name!

Why won't she learn the names of her toys, foods she wants, where her body hurts so I know how to help her??? Is it stubbornness, does anybody know any tricks???

Ok, so my daughter is 4 years old. I feel that she is really smart. But then I compare her to other kids, ones that go to preschool or daycare, she does not go to either yet. But she only can count to 10, she has a very creative mind, but she can not say her ABC's , she can kinda start spelling out her name, and can copy it when I write it out , But I dont feel like I work with her enough. I work 40 hrs a week and im 33 weeks pregnant. is this because im a bad mother?

My son has more toys than any of us know what to do with. For his fourth birthday, I'd like to have an event rather than a tangible gift. I don't want to throw a big party, because I want it to be a family thing.

Local options include a children's museum, somewhat cheesy aquarium, a train ride, a waterfall, and various other outdoor activities. He would not enjoy Chuck E Cheese at all.

Can you recommend something that would be entertaining for a 4-year-old boy that he might actually remember when he gets older - something that would be a special event for all of us?

My son is 14 months old, and already knows how to unscrew tops off of bottles and jars, push a chair up to things so he can reach the items he is not supposed to touch, climb to the top of my other son's bunk bed, escape from his playpen, and open doors. Anyone else been through this, and is there a break somewhere in sight for me?

For my son's 2nd birthday, we are having a "birthday breakfast" themed party for him and his little friends. I am looking for some cute ideas for wording on the invite including something about wearing pajamas, including slippers & maybe bringing a favorite stuffed animal. Any cute or catching wording would be great. Any other suggestions regarding food, favors, etc. would be appreciated as well. Thanks!!

She was born with very little hair and was perfectly healthy. It has hardly grown in the front. Is there anyone else that has a daughter with the same type hair. I do give her childrens vitamins and she eats healthy food!! Don't get me wrong I count my blessings everyday for the fact she is healthy.

My son will be attending a special preschool for autistic children in April when he turns three. My mother and my sister disagree with this because they feel he is too young and lacks the understanding as to why he is being sent there. They feel that I need to volunteer at the school in his classroom so that I can keep an eye out for any type of mistreatment because my son is not able to communicate these things to me. I feel that it would hold him back from realizing his true potential. He will want to cling to me, and I feel that this will delay his progress. I also feel my presence there will only delay the inevitable. Eventually he will have to attend school without me and when that day comes he will be extremely upset, whether I ease him into it by volunteering or not. I feel that it is better for him to get used to being there alone sooner as opposed to later. I hate leaving him, but he needs the therapy the school will provide and I want him to get the most from it. Am I wrong?

Today is my daughter's 4th birthday. We are having a party at Chuck E. Cheese on Friday. She's opened some presents today. I'm undecided whether I should just make dinner as usual or go out to like...McDonalds' (she would love that). I made her a cake today and we'll have another Friday. Lucky kid! So, McDonald's or hamburg's at home???

I have a gifted 4 year old who will be 5 on October 19th 2007. The cutoff in Massachusetts is Sept 1. He is already in his second year of preschool and I'm afraid a third year would be counterproductive to his future attitude toward learning. He is already bored. The principal and superintendant's office rarely allow early entrance to kindergarten but they have done is a few times over the years. Has anyone successfully fought the system? What was the determining factor? Thanks.

HI, Does any one know a good pediatrician doctor in Dedham, Newton area of Mass? I have two small kids who are sick a lot during the winter and want someone close by, who is attentive and would have good advices and explanations for me, not just quick to prescribe antibiotics every time there is a problem. I know that some doctors will do a house visit if a child is very sick and has a fever, but that would just be a bonus.
Any ideas?

i have a quick question. Does anyone have a child who is bowlegged. What are the signs that your child maybe bowlegged. My father keeps telling me that my 1 year old son should get his legs broken and in braces so that he won't be bowlegged. (based on the fact that my cousin had her legs broken because of this)However when i asked my doctor about this about 6 months ago she told me that when he begins walking his legs will straigten out. He has only been walking for about a month now so i don't expect it to go away overnight. How can i reassure my dad and myself that my baby will be ok?
