Who's opinion do you support?
Woman A - Her 2 year old has a chest full of toys. This gives him many toys to choose to play with, even if he doesn't play with half of them. Every 6 months, he is given about 5-8 new toys and still has access to all his previous toys.
Woman B - Her 2 year old has 10-12 toys, varing in size and purpose. Most of his toys are educational and frequently played with. He is given a new toy every 2-3 months, but one is taken away also.

This is a case of my four year old nephew, who has his own room and bed, but every night, when the child inevitably wakes up, my sister goes in his room and sleeps with him for the rest of the night.

During the day, the child constantly seeks attention from my sister. He even tries to forbid her from talking with others. "You will not talk to mommy," is a frequently heard phrase uttered at relatives and friends, even our mother and father. Another is "Mommy, don't talk," when my sister is talking to someone. He will also sometimes punch my sister if she is not paying enough attention to him. The punishment for this behavior is almost non-existent. Oh yeah, the kid is barely potty-trained at age four.

My sister knows this is a problem but won't deal with it. Her husband will not, either, and he is about to be deployed to Iraq, making the situation worse. They are trying to have another child and I don't want to see this happen again. Any suggestions to straighten them both out?

Please don't advise obvious things such as going to a park, coloring or reading with him, buildling towers out of blocks, baking with him. I'd like some unique ideas. Thanks.

She will openly defy my wishes for my 12mo son not to have soft drinks, tea, or junk food. She even tried giving him tea while he was in my lap! I know that he'll get spoiled by his grandparents, and I'm all for that. The food that he gets in his belly is important to me. It's something I feel very strongly about. Obesity runs in both my and my husbands family. She's also fed him buttered and salted baked potatoe in front of me when he loves to eat it plain. If she's feeding him this in front of me, what is she giving him when I'm not around? Confused as to how I can get it through to her that I want to control what he eats and drinks (within reason- like no caffiene drinks, no extra salt or butter, plenty fruits and veggies, no chips, etc) Help me!

I am a stay at home mom. I take care of everything the only thing that my husband does is work out side the home I take care of every thing else including my son is who is 7 months old. My husband works all day and then when he comes home he doesn't help at all with our son. In the 7 months that he has been here he has changed 5 dipers and feed him 2 times. He never wants to hold him or play with him. He acts like I am asking for the world when I ask him to hold him for just a min. I do every thing for my son. I get up with him in the middle of the night, change him, feed him. give baths and so on. Am I wrong to feel this way since my husband does work and I just stay at home with my son. If I'm not wrong what should or could I do to change this?

I've tried everything! He's eats table food very well, has no problem being spoon-fed and likes using his fingers to feed himself. He just turned a year old and I've already been trying for a few months to get him to use a sippy cup and I've even tried offering the cup w/o the sip-spout thinking he might want to do it the way he sees the rest of us. No luck. I didn't have this problem with my first and I know that all babies do things at their own pace --should I just lay off for a while, is he just not ready?

Suggestions from parents who went through similar experience much appreciated!

She keeps him some days while I am at work and so she has him for lunch and I just wish she could give him a fruit and veggie every day. He eats chicken nuggets like every day which aren't really good for him as it is so at least give him something healthy to go along with it. WHAT can I do about this? He is allergic all dairy and eggs so I know that makes it harder to feed him but he is NOT allergic to any fruits or veggies!!!!!!!

My eighteen month old baby will not allow me to brush her teeth. She refuses to open her mouth. I’ve tried letting her brush her own teeth, but she doesn’t do a good job (she leaves the toothbrush in her mouth without brushing). I’ve also tried using a damp cloth to wipe her teeth also, but she hasn’t allowed me to put it in her mouth. I’m starting to worry that she won’t have proper dental hygiene care, especially since most of her teeth have come in.

Has anyone seen a baby board learning activity center? I've seen the playmats and bouncers. Buy I'm sort of thinking of the old fisher price play center board where babies manipulated buttons and other objects and it also included a mirror. Are there any modern versions? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

He is usually is such a happy boy. His demeanor has completely changed. He's become extremely clingy and irritable. He refuses to eat lunch. So far the only thing I have been able to get him to eat is fruit and sweet pot. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have already made an appointment for today, we couldn't get in because of the long weekend. But just curious as to what other parents have to say about this.

My son is almost 3 years old and 2 months ago he woke up screaming during the middle of the night. Since then he wont sleep unless the light is on. If he wakes up and his light is off he screams bloody murder. We put a night light in his room but this wasnt enough help to him. We tried putting his sister in his room with him thinking maybe he didnt want to be alone, but he still has to have the lights left on. Does anyone have any advice on this? I hate to keep having to leave the light on all night long. Also he wants the light on during the day even if there is pleanty of light in his room and no need for it.

I currently nanny 2 boys. I arrive at their house at 6:15 am, wake the boys up, bathe the boys, dress the boys, feed the boys breakfast, get the older boy, who is 6, ready for school. The 6 year old then goes to school. I take the 3 year old back to my home. While at my house, I feed him(my food), play with him, potty train him, teach him, deal with his bad attidtude and then some. Then I have to be back at their house where I wait for the 6 year old to come home by 3:30. The parents arrive whenever the want between 4:00 and 5:00. In the mean time I take care of their dog, clean their house(occasionaly), and do their dishes(which is expected of me). These people feel they can cut my pay whenever and never discipline their children after I told them they did something bad. They never listen to me about the problems I am having and they couldn't care less, like its my problem not their's. I do so much and don't feel I get paid enough. So how much do you think I should charge a week?

on each of her legs, she has red lines. they have been there now for 3 weeks. they are neither fading or getting worse. they are not raise, and do not seem to bother her. they just appeared one day. we thought they were scratches at first, but the lines on both shins are at about the same height and the same length. We havent been able to find any objects around the house that could have caused them.

has anyone seen something like this before? or have any idea what they could be ?
