3 years old is my best bet. I took my 3 year old to the dentist and I prepared him by showing him one of Elmo's World on the disney channel on Teeth and about going to the dentist. It was fantastic that he was so cool about it. As he sat on the dentist chair, i told him it will feel like he was on a rocket ship. So when it moved, he was more in awe than frightened.

I think it is more about whether your child is ready mentally than physically.

The old way of thinking was at 3 years old, but the new studies out suggest that it's best to take them when their first tooth appears. This allows your child to get use to the dentist and also to get advice from your dentist on how best to keep healthy teeth and gums. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentists states "In order to prevent dental problems, your child should see a pediatric dentist when the first tooth appears, or no later than his/her first birthday." Below is the web site!

Both of your children should be seeing the dentist(most dentists reccomend that the first visit be no later than the second birthday) It also depends alot on the child(my youngest was born with teeth so she started seeing one at 4 weeks old) if they are having pain or any problems with their teeth they need to be seen right away regardless of their age.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry actually recommends to start by your child's 1st birthday. I started taking both of my children around their 1st b-day. The pediactric dentists are great. Not only does this help the dentist to ensure that your children's teeth are developing properly, but it helps the children. Just like we should go every six months, so should they.
The reason children are afraid of the dentist is because most parents don't start taking them until around their 3rd b-day. If they have cavities, their 1st experience is a bad one, and even if they don't any new experience can be overwhelming at that age.
Good Luck

About age three. Get them in there and get them used to both the dentist and brushing and flossing. Gone are the days when we all ignored the baby teeth and began proper care with adult teeth. Good habits start early and this is one those times. Mostly the dentist will just poke around a little and say "good" but it's worth it in the long run and they will detect anything strange with the teeth if necessary.

In my experience most dentist like to start seeing your child at 3 yrs old, and I would suggest you go to the dentist first and take them along so they can see what goes on, as maybe this will help them not fear the dentist.

My pediatrician told me to start taking my children to the dentist at the one year check up, and the dentist agreed that at about 1 year as long as the child has teeth in his mouth, my first son didn't get his first tooth until he was 11mths old so we waited until he was a little older

They both need to be seen by the dentist. Normally at about a year is when you take babies to the dentist for the first time.
