My son is 1 yr and he needs his foods obviously cut up in small chunks and small bite sized sizes.

When would a little start eating sandwichs, larger chunks of fruit, whole french fries, hot dogs etc.

We adopted her from my cousin who was having drug and alcohol problems. She was two when we adopted her. She does not speak of her birth parents and I am not sure if she remembers them. Her birth parents are claiming they are sober now and seem to want to see her, although they have not made any indications that they want her back.

My 5 year old daughter keeps biting/licking her lips and causing them to become very chapped (even above and below her lips) in this extemely cold weather. Any tips to limit the redness/soreness that is happening because of her biting? The Dr just told me to keep medicated chap stick on her, I was wondering if anyone else had any helpful tips

The rash is only on his cheeks and isn't anywhere else on his body, it has lasted for 2 days, I have not introduced him to any new foods? The only thing I can think of is milk, he hasn't drank any milk for almost a week. But before the week he drank it all the time and never got a rash is this possible? any info would help thanks. So far no known allergies to anything.

My 4 year old son has troubles sleeping in his own room at night. He would be fine when we were there to accompany him. But if he wakes up in the middle of the night and we're not there, he would start crying and screaming. He says he's scared of the dark. But we always let the night light in his room on. Any idea why the night light is not helping at all? also any suggestion as to what we should do?

My granddaughter cries when she knows she is going to spend a week with her mother. When we ask her why she says she is tired of her little brother biting her all the time. He is not quite 2 years old. Primary care and control is with my son, who has her 3 weeks followed by one week with her mother, when she remembers it is her week to have her daughter. It breaks our hearts to see the bites when she comes home, and the mother's response to it is "that's kids". The mother never wanted her daughter to start with, and even said that when she becomes a toddler someone else could have her because she hates toddlers! We have tried to explain to my granddaughter she has to go to her mother's because it is her mother and the court says she has to spend time with her. What can we do? She prefers to be at home with her dad and stepmother, not at her mother's in an area that is known for drugs, murders, muggings and shootings

When my 3yr old step son wakes up in the morning he immediately starts to cry for about an hour. You tell him its time to go to bed (nicely no yelling) he starts to cry. He cries the moment any one leaves our house even guest he doesn’t know. He cries when you drop him off at school and pick him up. He cries over everything. Telling him he will have to go to bed early if he doesn’t stop crying makes it worse. Taking toys or privileges away makes it worse. Recently their mother (6 yr old step daug. also) has decided to not be constantly active in their life's. She has seen them for 5 hrs in the past 1 ½ months, and when he cries he yells for "momma" which I can understand because he misses her. I just need to know how to make the consistent cryin stop. Is this cryin due to his mother not being around? Could this be a form of "child depression” due to his mother’s sudden lack of interest? If so could it be used in a court case? Or is this level of cryin normal?

My son is going to be 9 months old next week and we have been battling sleep since he was born! He still gets up twice at night for bottles and another 4 or 5 times crying and wanting his pacifier back. We aren't asking to sleep through the night...just for like 2 hours straight would be nice. He wants to get up for good at about 4. We do not want to co-sleep, but we have started bringing him to bed with us because he just will not settle down. THen there is nap time. He is only taking one (about an hour) nap a day. He only slept for 15 minutes today and I have just spent the last two hours trying (unsuccessfully) to get him back to sleep. We try to let him cry it out (or at least wear himself out a bit), but it doesn't work. He will just cry until he is choking. We try to rock him, but as soon as he starts to drift off he shakes his head around to wake himself up. I've had him to the Dr. and there is nothing physically wrong. I'm at my witts end (and very tired). Help!

I taught my 4year old almost 5 how to call 911 the other day, I know it might be a little too young but I live 2 hours away from any family or friends and I am a stay at home mom with my husband working out of town often. So if an emergency did happen he and my 6 month old would be left alone for hours or even days. So I thought it would be a good idea.
Anyways, this morning while I was feeding my 6 month old he called 911 and told them he had an owie ( he rolled his finger up in the car window yesterday) What can I say to make him understand what an emergency is? Thankyou in advance!

My daughter is 3 and 1/2 . She was always pretty good, ate almost anything. Lately she's acting up, doesn't wanna eat anything and if I really want to make her eat I have to feed her and play with her at the same time (meaning like let her color and spoon the food in her). I just don't know what to do to make her eat by herself - and no, "don't feed her, she'll get hungry" does not work, tried that, she would eat little by herself just to tie her over, but she could go on apple a day for a week (we tried, really). This is going on for little over two weeks now and I guess because of lack of nutriens she's REALLY cranky, throwing tautrums, etc..... something she hasn't been doing before. And yes, there are changes (like she started preschool,.....) but that could only explain it but not solve this. Any ideas?
P.S. By the way, we tried time-outs, she already lost watching TV or playing on the computer, no toys at the table,.... don't know what else to take away....

I have a 3 yr. old who has the attitude of a 13 yr. iold & I can't get her to stop being so hateful & smart with me, she even does it to my husband sometimes. But mostly me & I can't understand why. We don't talk to her like that. Could this be a result of sibling jealousy? We also have a 3 month old daughter.

My 2 yr old wakes up 3 to 4 times in the night crying. People tell me to ignore it and she'll go back to sleep but its hard to ignore it because she hollers. So I go to her room and tell her to go back to sleep and she does. But I'm going crazy having to keep waking up I feel like I have a newborn all over again.

Can anyone give me some advice??

Who's opinion do you support?

Woman A - From birth till age 1, her child is almost always in the swing, except feeding and crib time. At age 3, he is developmentally were he needs to be (same stages as any other 3 yr old), enjoys alone time, and is very well behaved.

Woman B - From birth till age 1, her child is given 1-2 hours of swing time a day. Otherwise he is given floor time and jumperoo time. At age 3, he is developmentally at the same stages of other child, but adjusts easily to new activities, even alone time.

Woman C - From birth on, her child is never given swing time. He is given floor time and play time, never confined in a play station. At age 3, he is developmentally more advanced than other children his age, but always needs to be active/exploring. He is very social but occasionally acts up out of boredom.
