Your child's teeth grinding could be related with calcium defenciency. I have been grinding teeth since I was five years old. After a lot of home remedies and many doctor later, one doc told my parents that they should give me more milk and milk stuff when that happens. And sure thing, it went away. Even today, now I am 32, whenever I start grinding my teeth, I start taking a glass of milk daily and it goes away in a day or two. Check your child's nails. If they have white spots, then calcium def is the reason.

I have also heard that teeth grinding could be associated with tapeworms but I dont buy it.

I do it too, it usually means your under stress of some sort. Alot of people grind their teeth when they sleep, not only kids. If u go to the dentist he can tell right away (that's what happened to me) it was weird to hear too, so I know how u must of felt at dinner, lol. I suggest u go to the dentist for a mouth guard, it's a plastic guard that prevents the teeth from grinding together or any drugstore has cheaper ones. U should have someone u trust video u when asleep, so u can see for your self.

Both my kids grind their teeth ones 5 and been doing it since he was very small.
My daughters only 10 months old and does the same thing, their dentist doesnt seem to worry about it...

the 5 yr old only does it at night and my lil daughter does it just because she finds it funny....

I guess the best thing to do is just ask the dentist.

good luck

I have a four year old that sometimes grinds his teeth while sleeping, my dentist says not to worry. He said that usually around six they shoud grow out of it...nevermind with a mouthguard ecspecially if you girl still has her milk teeth..try and check on her to see if it is just an occasional thing or if it is constant...

Young children grind their teeth all the time. Both my girls (now 1 and 3) did/do it, and their pediatrician and dentist aren't concerned at all.

They said they only intervene if it's a) constant (and not just over a few months); b) damaging their teeth; and c) persistent over a long period of time.

I had a cousin who had a baby that did that and she ground her teeth to the gums. Get a mouth guard and talk to a dentist and Dr.

that could be stress, axiety, or as with me i have a jaw thing called TMJ you could get your kid tested for it....to help save your kids teeth and jaw, invest in a mouth gaurd. they sell some you can set to your mouth and size etc. you can find them at like walmart, so you can find them most anywhere. the one i've bought was called night gaurd. it helps me to not grind on my teeth.
