My son was evaluated today by the program called SoonerStart. He will be two next month and is still not speaking, or doing shapes, and has poor motor skills. A lady from the program came and did some exercises with him to see what level he would qualify under to participate in the program. A score from 50 or below is good, he scored 120. She asked him to stack some blocks up, instead he would bang them together. She said that is the level of an 11 mo old. She put a cheerio in a small bottle and asked him to get it out by turning the bottle over but instead he stuck his finger in it and got mad because he couldn't get it. Hes not speaking either. Shows no sign in learning toys whatsoever, has a very short attention span. She told me he will be assigned to a speech therapist and a therapist to work with his other motor skills. Has anyone else had any similar experiences and can tell me about it? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

My niece is almost 4 years old and still walking around with a pacifier in her mouth... not to be critical but, isn't that a little old to still suck on a pacifier?...
My baby's almost 10 months old, when should I start weaning her off her pacifier? And how?

Thanks!

My 1yr old son really HATES to eat. He's been like this for several months for some odd reason. He really still wants me to spoon him food. He'll eat a few things off his tray and then give up and want to play. I know he can chew but nothing seems to get him real excited about eating on his own.

Is he old enough for pediasure or should he take a vitamin?

My son has wide feet and I am having trouble finding shoes for him. Of course, because he's 3-1/2 years old, he'd love some tennis shoes with a character on them like Batman, Robin, Spiderman, etc.
The only wide shoes I can find for kids look like shoes for the elderly.
Any suggestions where to look? Thanks!

I am 40 weeks pregnant, and my daughter is going up north for a week to see her dad. I tried to schedule her trip so that she would be home for her brother to be born, but things just didn't work out that way. How can I make the transition easier if I go into labor while she is away? I don't want to be rude and ask them to bring her home because she doesn't get to spend time with her dad all that much. He tends to work a lot. Any suggestions?

my baby loves to watch TV!! he loves certain programs like barney or some kiddie stuff, and he loves the advertisements shown. It's too much, he can go on the whole day just watching TV.

I'm worried that it might affect his IQ, but whenever i turn the TV off, he turns it on by himself. he's finding ways on his own to turn the TV on without anybody.

HEEEELLLPP!!

What do you think are the 3 biggest areas in young children's (up to 6 years old) lives which can be improved? for example: toddlers toys, toddlers cutlery, etc. And please state the reason WHY you think it's not good enough at the moment. Any suggestion on how to improve it will be nice, as well. Thanks!

About half an hour ago, my five kids were helping daddy organize the garage. My oldest, Miachel, hooked a bungee cord to a wagon and then to his bike and was pulling his little sister, Kaila around.

Somehow the bungee snapped off the bike and hit Kaila on her shoulder.

Once we got her to stop crying enough so we could understand where she was hurt, she showed us this enourmous bruise on her shoulder.

It is sensitive to touch, she can't even lay down. I gave her a dose of motrin and an ice pack.

Is there anything else I can do to make my baby girl feel better? Should I take her to an urgent care center?

Thanks for your help.

My 21 month old daughter has started to remove her nappy (only in the comfort of her home, I hasten to add). I have started to ask her to tell me when she has done a poo, and today she successfully told me (then put her hand in it to prove herself right, hmmm).
Should I start my potty training now? Or should I leave it a few weeks?
Ive had a potty for months which she has played with is not scared of........ so what do you think?
serious answers only please, merci xxx

She is advanced for her age in most respects but she had some problems with constipation and although this is pretty much under control now she is really reluctant to use the potty or toilet.

I have not really pushed her to do it as she hasn't needed that kind of encouragement with anything else.

Do I just wait for her to come round or is there anything I can do?

My daycare had these plastic/rubber strips that are bent accordian-like. They cover the door hinges to keep the children's fingers out. Where can I find these?

I have a two year old daughter. She is a very charming little girl. And on her other side she is very mean. She beats up her three year old brothers, she stays up all night, and when she does not want to eat what she is being fed she will make herself throw up. What can I do to get her into a better routine and to where she will listen better and not be so mean. I have tried to correct her in many ways, but she is so bull-headed that nothing works. Please give me some insight.

I have an 18 month old granddaughter who I look after two days a week and the rest of the week she attends nursery. Last week I had flu badly and was unable to have her, she also had a virus and has been really poorly - too poorly to go to nursery. Normally I would have looked after her while her mum and dad worked but because I was ill my daughter, her mum, had to take time off. On Thursday my daughter was called in to work to deal with a crisis which meant taking her child with her despite her being really ill. The employers have tonight said that they are not paying for the time my daughter took off work to look after her child. Is this correct can they do this - does anybody know what the rules are please.

I'm not really in a major rush to potty train but she does like sitting on the potty she brings it to me sometimes and she sits on it every night before her bath although nothing happens.
Also when she has done a poo she runs to me clutching her nappy saying 'poo poo' and if she does a wee without her nappy on she takes great interest in it.
Where should I go from here?

my son is going to be 3 in feburary...all his milestones are bit delayed ...he crawled at 9 months , walked at 18 months (without support), he started speaking at 2.3yrs , his vocabulary consists of 200-300 words but no sentences...we have send him to a playschool , he has learned 1-20 and alphabets from playschool. If u ask him questions what is ur name ,age , school name, how do u go to school, all answers are monosyllables...if he wants me to change TV channels, he will say "change " and point towards TV/remote.. I am asking him say " ma,change the channel "...but
he tries to speak only in monosyllables...he is quite alert, fully toilet trained , can identify all body parts, name most of the animals ... i long for the day to come he will speak some sentences...when i visit his playschool, some kids speak so fluently...i visited a speech therapist who feel our child is lazy and we have to give him some more TIME...any tips on how to
encourage small sentences would be highly helpful

My son is going to be five in April. He has been off the diapers during the day since he was 3, but at night it's a different story. We tried many times, but he sleeps so soundly that he will not notice a wet pajama and that means he could sleep in a wet bed for hours. I am ok with giving him a diaper at night, but I am starting to worry... my doctor said not to worry until he's at least six, but he's so good during the day! Never an accident, and he's very depressed about the diapers at night. What to do?
