My son was about that age when I put him in a twin size bed. It was low to the ground because of the frame and it didn't have a box spring at the time. We also put a bed rail so he wouldn't fall out. He loved it. I guess it mostly depends on your child and how much they take to change.

He's not too young. You don't say if he seems to be having a problem with it. Switching to the bed is tough for a lot of toddlers, but I think you may have made the best decision. New house, new sleeping arrangement. Get all the transition over and done with at the same time. I'd say relax and see how your son does. We moved my son to a toddler bed at 17 months and he does great. If he understands that the big boys sleep in toddler beds and babies sleep in the crib, maybe that would help. Good luck.

I got a toddler bed for my daughter when she was 20 months old, and she loves it. She thinks of it as her big girl bed! Take him to the store and let him pick out some cool sheets he likes and make a big deal over him being the big boy and not having to sleep in a crib like a little baby. It's not too early.

It is a lot of change for him. I had my daughter when my son was 17 months. He was in his big boy bed (twin bed) when he turned 13 months. They say that they should be sleeping in a toddler bed or twin bed by 13 months. I read that in the toddler's owner's manual. My son loved it and he never fell off. Even after his little sister was born he still slept in his bed with no problem.

My son was in a toddler bed at 17 months in prep. for baby number 2, and my daughter was in one at 18. They both did great. At first I kept the mattress on the floor, and then when they were used to it I put it on the frame. I never used a toddler bed, just a twin size. I had to put up a baby gate to make sure they didn't sneak out of their rooms, and for a short while my son would fall asleep on the floor. But it didn't hurt him any and they are both happy sleepers.

Not really. I put my oldest daughter in a toddler bed at 18 mths. old. And we never had a problem with it. As long as he's ok with it he should be just fine.

I think that it is a good thing that you did of putting your son in a bed. I had my son in a bed at 20 months. He sleeps fine in it.

My son crawled out of his baby bed at age 13 months. We moved him to a big boy bed that day ( for fear of him falling when he did it again)..He did great it in the big bed. Make it a big deal. get him to help u put the blankets on , ask him which stuffed toys he wants to put on it. If you make it fun for him he will be fine..
