About half an hour ago, my five kids were helping daddy organize the garage. My oldest, Miachel, hooked a bungee cord to a wagon and then to his bike and was pulling his little sister, Kaila around.

Somehow the bungee snapped off the bike and hit Kaila on her shoulder.

Once we got her to stop crying enough so we could understand where she was hurt, she showed us this enourmous bruise on her shoulder.

It is sensitive to touch, she can't even lay down. I gave her a dose of motrin and an ice pack.

Is there anything else I can do to make my baby girl feel better? Should I take her to an urgent care center?

Thanks for your help.

I think you've done everything your doctor would have done. Us moms know! Let her get through the night with the dosages of motrin every couple of hours and ice it down as often as you can before bed. It will be sore but do the rotation check (to see if it's broken). From your explanation only, I don't think it's necessary to do the urgent care bit. If she is still complaining in the morning then just give your doctors office a call and get their advice. Just let her relax with a little extra TLC tonight, let her rest with you on a propped up pillow if necessary - besides, going to the clinic this evening will just hype her up and scare her.

Use your best judgment though - moms always know best!!

here is one for ya, I have 2 of my own with lots of boo boos if the ice and the pain reliver don't work, keep her proped up at an angle it will keep the blood flow going good to the area and try alternateing from heat to ice depending on the age it might be difficult but it does work and to make teh bruise go away faster try giveing her more protein like peanut butter ar meat then tey equal admounts of carrots or another vitimine rich veggie

I'm sure she will be fine no need to rush her to the ER. The ice pack and the motrin should help im sure it will be sore for a while. Poor kid!

Ice on for 10 minutes, then off for 10 minutes. Repeat as long as it takes. The ice should be in a cloth.

As long as she has movement, she should be OK, but if you are concerned, get her checked out.

If I were you, I would take her to a doctor just to be sure that there wasn't any internal damage.
If he tells you you have done evreything you can, then at least you will have peace of mind.
If he tells you there is something else you can do, then again- there is your peace of mind.

Since you are worried, get her checked out :)
Children and their games, eh???

I would take her to see a doctor to make sure there are no broken bones... it may just be a bruise but just to be sure
