Actually yes your child can take vitamins. The kind I use for my 1 year old daughter comes as a liquid and it uses a dropper. My 4 year has been taking them since he was 9 months old. Pediasure works also. Pediasure has different flavors for them. My 4 year old loves them. My one year old daughter is like yours. All she wants to do is play. Ask a nutritionist ,they may have some ideas on how to help your child eat more.

I think giving a kid vitamins or pediasure is a good idea. Just like adults, vitamins and pediasures help fill in nutritional gaps but aren't a substitute for healthy eating.
If your kid wants to be spoon fed- spoon feed him his three main meals for the day and let him feed himself snacks. As much as it saves time and is more convienent if your kid feeds himself- he is only 12 months old. I'd give him at least a month or so before he can be trusted to eat a whole meal by himself. Gradually move onto him feeding himself three meals a day. You might want to start with his dinner. If your family includes him in dinner time and he sees that you feed yourselves he will eventually mimic you. This works great in the future for getting your kids to try new foods. My 21mo old daughter won't eat broccoli if I put it on her plate when she is eating alone but if she sees me eating broccoli off my own plate, she'll want some and will end up eating almost my whole serving.
Another suggestion that may help you is a problem I ran into recently. My daughter ate three regular meals at the same time every day. All of a sudden, she wouldn't finish her food and just sat there playing. I wondered why she went from a good/fast eater to a messy kid- she was going through a phase. Kids go through phases where they don't eat much. I started feeding her two meals a day plus a snack- all an hour or two later than normal and she ate just like she used to- fast and well behaved.
It will help if you wait until you KNOW your kid will be very hungry.

You shouldn't give pediasure or vitamins without talking to your pediatrician first. As for the eating issue, each baby will begin to eat on their own when they are ready. For now, just keep feeding him and make sure that you are trying a wide variety of foods with him :)

Please stay away from suppliments, like Pediasure. You just don't want to get the kid hooked on these - because they need real food.
Anyway, kids will eat when they get hungry. Just keep trying but don NOT spoon feed him! Give him finger food and let him feed himself.
You can begin him on vitamins - try the 'gummy bear' ones; easier for him to chew.

Keep trying, you can eventually ween him from spoon feeding. Check with your pediatrician and keep a log of what and how much he is eating. Once they turn 1, their bodies slow down a little. They arent growing at as fast of a rate and need less food. Just try to push fruit and veggies.

actually it is normal for a one year old to not want to eat, they get bored with it. try giving several small meals throughout the day. also try writing down everything he eats in a day (just for one day) and you may realize that he eats more than you think. my daughter hardly eats too, she is 18 mos. but the nutritionist said she is doing perfect with her eating. i give my daughter vitamins, just to make sure she is getting the nutrients she needs, only give infant vitamins, they come in a little dropper and you may need to mix it with juice or something because they are NASTY. my daughter gagged when we first gave it to her, but she has gotten used to the taste.

in the journey that your youngster's pediatrician isn't nervous, then it appears that evidently such as you're projecting your individual "values" approximately nutrition onto the youngster. MANY youngsters have "nutrition possibilities", generally leaning in direction of carbohydrates and removed from culmination, greens and protein. it fairly is great, on the grounds that they are becoming and carbs have a lot of power. in simple terms attempt to lead removed from white flour and sophisticated sugar. shop on with as many entire grains as you are able to (like oatmeal and entire wheat bread and waffles). try potatoes! youngsters generally love 'em. and because they desire fat for his or her bobbing up hectic structures, do no longer turn away from a serving or 2 of french fries, case in point. the bigger fuss you're making, the extra serious he gets! (I made that mistake and now be apologetic approximately it) 2-year-olds are setting up autonomy and administration. Refusing to devour is between the only "weapons" they have, so provide them some slack! in case you do no longer rigidity them or freak out, yet make culmination, etc., accessible, he will come around...in line with hazard. If he does not, do no longer panic. My youngster infrequently ate veg's and NO FRUIT (nevertheless does not) and he's replaced into 6'3" by potential of the time he replaced into 14! the 1st link under (a million) provides an stunning evaluate of what you need to be seeing in boost, progression and behaviour in a 2 y.o. and has a lot of sturdy suggestion on methods for handling resistant habit (that's thoroughly favourite). the 2d internet site "Feeding Your toddler; a thank you to Make it relaxing" (2), bargains in particular with eating, what's favourite and the completed concern of babies putting forward administration. lower back, it had a lot of great techniques and knowledge. One remark I enjoyed replaced into that "whilst it comprises element length, toddlers generally comprehend ultimate. in fact, 2-year-olds tend to be a lot extra effectual than adults at regulating their very own urge for nutrition. "mothers and dads generally overestimate how a lot nutrition babies desire," says Dr. McLean. "The pronounced serving length for 2-year-olds is in simple terms one and a 0.5 to 2 tablespoons of each nutrition." (they flow directly to assert what could be incorrect in the journey that your newborn isn't eating adequate, such as filling up on drinks). in simple terms attempt to relax appreciate him on a similar time as he's this age...this is a blast!
