I am planning on taking a 10 hour car trip alone with my 16-month old. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated!

We take my son on an 8 hour trip to our parents houses every 3 or 4 months since he was born. Make sure to pack juices, snacks and toys. As my son started getting older and a bit more aware of the fact that he wasn't getting out of the car anytime soon, we bought him a dvd player and would let him choose what he wanted to watch.

take breaks every 3 or 4 hours. Buy a dvd player for the car. My son, 2, my daughter who was 8 months at the time did so great going on a 5 hour trip without the dvd player, but I'm sure that a dvd player would help. Plan out the trip when he takes his naps, like leave early in the morning waking him up, he'll be happy with the food and drink you give him, he'll get tired around 12 or 1 and fall asleep for 2 or more hours. Have toys for him, fisher price music and sing songs with him to keep you both awake

We started taking car trips with our kids at very early ages. As a result, they are happy in the car. People might tell you DVD player, but we didn't go that route. Since your baby is only 16 months old, he'll probably do a lot of sleeping. Otherwise, we always took a lot of breaks so our kids could get out of the seat and walk around. Snacks and toys are always great too. If you have turned your baby around and now faces front, sitting in the middle in the back seat usually tends to be a higher seat than the sides, making it easier for baby to look out the window and see stuff.

This past year around Thanksgiving we took our 13 month old on a trip to Kansas (we had done it before when he was 7-8 months old). He was really good He was forward facing and loved to look around. He did get fussy sometimes when he was just tired of being in the car. We stopped every 2-3 hrs to stretch, get something to eat, change diapers, etc. We did bring toys, bottles (sippies in your case) and even some Baby Einstein music. He did sleep also which was nice. Hope I helped! Good Luck with your trip!

lol i know what you mean, we have four boys who are 8,6,6,4 and we travel every summer. Its scary lol we've been doing this for the past 5 years, we go somewhere thats about 8 hours away. Best advise i can give you, is to make sure you have toys with lol. Buy him something new that will entertain him. Maybe even a portable dvd player for the long trip. Stop often for stretches :) they need this, and the usually sleep alot of the time :) Bring music with you and him and sing to! and maybe some snacks :) Goodluck!!!!

Oh boy can I help with this one. I did this last year with my son on a trip to Atlanta from Miami
Okay
1) Take hour long drives to get him used to being in the car seat for a while, if you can.
2) Make this important decision yourself you can either
a) Travel at night, put the baby in the car seat at bedtime and will be sleeping as is normal
b) Leave really early in the morning like around 3 am or so, you will make better time with the lack of traffic and I found it easier because my son kept sleeping.
3) Have a travel cooler, they have ones that can plug into your cigarette lighter that can keep food either hot or cold. Fill it with snacks and juice for yourself and the little one
4)Take a few travel games with you to keep the baby occupied once he/she wakes up.
5) Be prepared to make stops for both yourself and the little one.

Haul butt while the baby is sleeping, you will be surprised who much the movement actually keeps the baby asleep.
My experience was that I left 4 am. I put my son in the car and he went right back to sleep. He did not budge until 8 am. I stopped, changed him, took a break for myself and ate. Got moving again.
I sang to him. He went back to sleep around 10:30 and he did not budge until I got to my parents at 3:00pm

Lots of toys, music and snacks. And you'll need to stop often, probably because he will get grumpy sitting down so long. Let him run around somewhere and get his energy out. I'm praying for you!!Seriously!
