They sell this nail polish for people who bite their nails - it's really bitter, you might wanna put it on that thumb. She's not gonna like that taste.

My 24 mth still sucks his thumb & his doctor told us to use cayenne pepper, hot sauce, etc. but the thing i'm worried about is if he rubs his eyes with that stuff on his thumb. He's got a "blankie" but hugs it while sucking his thumb so I really don't know how to help break the habit. Maybe when she does it take her thumb out of her mouth & say "That's what babies do & you're a big girl" I have tried something like that with my son but as we all know boys can be hard headed & have a mind of there own, it may work better with a girl.

I didn't get my daughter to stop until she was 11. And the only way I got her to stop was to take her to the dentist to get fitted for a "habit corrector". It is a metal spring type thing that they put in the roof of the mouth to remind people not to suck their thumb. That scared it right out of her! But ask your dentist about it. I am not sure how old you have to be to get one in.

my daughter sucked her thumb up until about 6 weeks she is now nearly 8 and i have tried everything including polish, etc and nothing worked, i even bought her a dummy and made her suck that in front of people!!!
So i think its just a case of having to perservere and keep her occupied, or distracted when she does it.

Good luck, you need it, but she will give it in when she is ready

properly you will possibly desire to have by no potential enable her positioned her thumbs in her mouth from the initiating. I even have an aunt and a cousin who nevertheless suck there thumbs to this day. you may try to tell her this is disgusting that she is touching each and every thing and putting her thumb in her mouth, yet I doubt she cares. staggering now she will the two improve out of it if she needs or no longer. it relatively is her convenience zone that could desire to have by no potential been began.

I'm 53 I still suck my fingers, when I'm really sick and in bed. I truly doubt if the thumb sucking is making her teeth shift. As a child grows and develops their jaws do also. The shape of their mouth and how their teeth come in is determined by genetics...not by thumb/finger/pacifier sucking.

If you are a lucky Mom and able to
be home with her..every time you
see her thumb in her mouth, give
her something to chew. Anything
you can do to distract her will help.
Most kids give it up by 24 months.

my son is 3 and he still sucks his thumb, conveniently he won't while at daycare guess he is embarrassed, I don't know how to get him to stop. I DON'T want to give him a complex about it, and feel hot stuff is harsh treatment. I hate to make him feel bad about something that comforts him. Good luck.
