As hard as it is....this is just part of being the parent of a 2 year old. As long as shes going right back to sleep, you aren't up for long. She just needs to see her mom & be reassured. She should grow out of it relatively soon.

No you shouldnt ignore it, she may be having nightmares. My 6 yr old still wakes up at night yelling, I go in her room and calm her, and she goes to sleep. We have used "Monster Spray" (air freshener) and she has a "Bad Guy Curtain" (one of those canopy curtains that hangs above the bed from the ceiling) and that seemed to quite it down a lot. But first ask her when you go in there at night what scared her.

Not that it's funny, but it is as we go through the same phase... funny part is that when I go in to settle him down he wants to be carried and cuddled and play.
When his father goes in he just lies down immediately like, "i better behave" with me he tries to get away with it....
Now he does that just to play....
Tips:
1. Be firm with your actions, but you don't need to let him holler. I don't. When I did that once, he puked up dinner. NEVER AGAIN.
2. My son that was never a big eater, but someone mentioned maybe he's waking up hungry. I gave him a bottle first time he work up and said, "thats it, time to go to bed now."
3. Put a later bed time... my son is going to bed now closer to 9pm b/c of this... If he's taking 2 naps a day, cut it down to 1.
Good Luck.

I went thru this with my twins, they both did it. I would go in and make sure they were dry and comfortable, cover them back up and they would go back to sleep. It is exhausting but it will ease up. I also would make sure they were not hungry, when they go thru a growth spurt they would do this more. I would let them have a 1/2 cup of milk and that really helped
good luck

Did she just start this? Has she seen anything to scare her? My 5 yr old used to do that, the Drs say its anxity. I would take her to the DR and explain to them her behavior, so they can find out what's waking her up. Don't let anybody tell you thats normal. It's not!
