There is an Eric Carle book called The Giving Tree that is awesome! I cry every time I read it!

My advice would be to go to a second hand shoppe and buy whole bunches of different books about different things. My daughter has tons of books, and most of them came from Goodwill and yard sales!

You are truly blessed to have a child who loves books!

Take your son to the library and spend some time with him looking at different books. Check out the books he enjoys most. My library has a free story time and my 3 year old daughter loves going there to listen to story's, play on the computer, and pick out her own books. The children's librarian will have some excellent suggestions on what books he may like.

One other thing, we have checked out a lot of non-fiction books lately, my daughter has enjoyed learning more about the world around her. Her favorites are books about animals and holidays.

The Sandra Boynton and Eric Carle books are fantastic for kids that age. A lot of them come in board book form too. You can find some Dr. Seuss books too that come in board book form and those always timeless classics. I have two boys ages 2 and 4 and can tell you those are big hits in our house.

Aside from all the other good suggestions, I recommend books with animals in them until he reaches 4 years old. And then move up to reading mystery and science when he's 5 and 6. Then I say check out the Magic Treehouse books to read to him.
