How do you get a 2.5 year old to quit jumping on furniture? Please dont say its a phase and that I should let him grow out of it, because I dont want him to fall and seriously injure himself. I have tried time outs, swatting him on the butt. Any other tips I could try?

There is a link on the page where you can go to sign a petition that will be brought to the Mississippi Supreme Court. PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION!!! A nursery home is where parents could leave their child at age of 3 mos and above for caring and education as well. It is a substitute for a nanny since it caters to child care and development programs, while the parents are doing their works or errands.

My 2.5 year old niece claims to see a "boy" when my sister puts her to bed and for her nap. Tonight, she told my sister to "wave at the boy mommy" while she waved towards the window. She has woken up in the middle of the night claiming a boy is in the room with her. Has anyone else encountered this problem with a toddler or anything. This just started about a week ago.

He's very smart, I feel he's more advanced then some babies his age. I read to him every night. He knows where his nose and ears are. He says, diaper, shoe(s), and yucky. I show him everything and tell him what it is. He hears a lot of vocabulary. What other things can I do to teach him more stuff?(colors, shapes, ABC's, numbers) (or anything else you can think of)

We used to spend about an hour with him before bedtime reading books and going over the alphabet and planets and now that he is 3 yrs old he has absolutely no interest in books. We still try everynight of course, but it's such a challenge to make him stop talking or jumping and just listen for a second. Or he keeps turning the pages before I can even finish reading a sentence! It drives me nuts and I want to make sure he keeps up the reading everynight but this behavior is discouraging. Is this a phase? Is it the age that they do this?

My 2 year old daughter seems to always shout ,even when she is talking normally .Her hearing is amazing ,so i know there is no problems there .I hardley ever shout at her ,only to warn her of danger .She is not around people who shout at her ,i just dont understand !!
Example :: She would shout MUMMY even if she is sitting on my lap !!
She has all the attention she could need ,i play, sing, and spend all of my time with her .
Sometimes she is fine and talks in a normal tone but seems to get louder the more she says .
I understand she likes the sound of her voice as she repeats the same word to hear differant sounds .
Apart fom the shouting ,she is a normal 2 year old ,very active, loving and inquisitive .
Has anyone else had anything like this ??
I proberly sound really stupid ,and you are thinking how loud can a 2 year old be ?
but she shouts so loud with her little voice that she give me ear
ache.
