Cold turkey is only best if you want to torture yourself.
Take a needle and poke a few holes and day in the pacifier and give it back to your child. Eventually it will go flat.
Tell your child that the passey fairy is coming and needs to take his passie to little babies.
Tie it to a balloon and tie it to a tree limb.
The next morning have a toy tied to the ball on in place of the passie. Tell your child that the passie fairy came and took him passie to the babies and left him/her and big boy/girl toy.
Give the child lots of hugs, kisses and praise.
The toy just replaces the passie in the childs eyes.
Best wishes!

If there is a few thing your infant fairly loves, say apple jucie. For some situations educate them you filling the bottle with the product, explaining its very a lot with for them. this can make em more beneficial enthusiastic about what they are getting quite than how they take it Then after some is going, wait till they do some thing properly and say as a particular deal with Im gonna furnish you including your apple juice in a huge boy/female cup. Wont that be yummy with any success the excitemnt of the deal with to boot because the tremendous boy / female aspect will paintings Did for me as for the pacifier , perhaps slightly youthful yet stickers on a chart for an older newborn ensuing in ice cream after dinner or a visit to the park or some thing works authentic properly

I am hoping that cold turkey works. I have a 21 month old who still has hers (shame on me) and we are trying cold turkey mostly. I did have her down to only at nights and she seemed fine with it unless she found one that had fallen out of the crib. Tonight I didn't give her one at bedtime but instead I gave her a couple of new stuffies she could sleep with. She cried for about 45min and went to sleep. She has been asleep for about 3 hours now with not a peep. I actually had to check on her to make sure she didn't cry her self to passing out. I just hope it works since she has teeth now and the dentist says they are crooked cuz of the binkie.

Absolutely cold turkey worked for me. My son "got" for his first birthday things taken away, the pacifier "suckie" and the "bobby" (bottle) were both gone.........we went to just a sippy the day of his first birthday. I just made it more of a "you're a big boy now, big boys don't have suckies"......... he's now just a few days over 3, and drinking out of a normal glass.
I'd go with cold turkey or will take 100 years.........don't coddle.

WIth my daughter cold turkey worked best. She was beginning to bite the tips off, yes she had her front and bottom teeth then. I told her it was time to let the binky go. She ended up throwing it away herself. I told her big girls don't need binky's. She was a little grumpy at first, but it didn't take long for her to forget it. I'm a mom to 3.

I would try slowly, keep it in the bedroom out of sight, only use for naps bedtime/and then slowly wean out a nap and then completely take it away.
I have a 12 month old completely attached to her paci, we are not ready to part with it just yet, we are going to work on bottles first. but we already have it down to only having it at nap time/bed time.
I think cold turkey would be brutal, but thats only from the experience i have with my daughter being so attached

We did the cold turkey method at about 12 months for both of our boys. With the older one, it was one tough night and he was over it. With our younger one, it was about 20 minutes at the first naptime, and it was never an issue again.
I'm not sure what's "recommended", but cold turkey worked for us.

Cold turkey worked the best for us because if you give it to them sometimes, they'll always want it and not know if they're going to get it and cry. If you take it away for good, that's it. You might have a rough couple of nights, but your baby will get over it.

One day you ask her if she wants to go to the store and get a new toy. Obviously she will say yes. Then you tell her that the only way she can pay for it is with her pacifiers. So you go and collect them all with her and put them in a bag. Then you take them to the store and make an arangment with one of the cashiers to pay with them. Then have you husband pay for it with money while you two go to the car. Works like a charm. She is proud of herself for paying for the toy all by herself and you don't have to deal with the pacifiers anymore.
