Finger painting always works with me and my son. Also playing hide and seek and maybe you should try cooking, like baking cookies together or do some art projects like painting, drawing and coloring.

Finger painting? Cookie baking? There are recipes on the net for clay using mostly flour and salt, and small figures can be dried and painted. Use tray tables and blankets to set up tunnels for him to crawl through. We used to love that when I was little. Indoor adventure camping trip. Where you run out of material, his imagination will take over. At 4 he can learn to be mommy's little helper if you give him age appropriate tasks. Let him shine a few windows. Let him push the vacuum around. Let him get down on his hands and knees with a sponge and a bucket and clean out a few corners. Talk it up, you can get kids to do a lot of things. And you should. Make housecleaning fun for him and you'll never regret it. Don't force him but say, "I don't know if you can do this, but..." Let him think it's an achievement, and when he gets bored move on to something else.

Well, you're going to be bored, but he will have fun! Play hide and seek. Get out the pots and pans and make dinner with legos. Playdough!! Movie with popcorn. Tinfoil sculptures! Watercolor painting! Make a city using blocks and cars. My 3 year old son and I play a game using post it notes. I pick something, like a letter of the alphabet or his name and write it over and over on maybe 10 post its. Then i stick them randomly throughout our house and he gets to go find them. A new twist on hide and seek. Then because they are post its, he can easily hide them for me when he is done. We could do this forever. Give it a try!

simple crafts: make finger puppets, paint, collages using pictures in magazines, decorate balloons, kid friendly scrapbooking( make a story using pictures), puppet plays, string beads, bake anything, make up silly songs, play fix it (pretend something's broken and only he can fix it), glue buttons and different things like yarn on paper, practice cutting out things out of different material around the house, make a pretend phone using two cups and attach with a string, play with a flash light, play with shadows
Have fun!
