First of all that is totally sweet of you to mail your niece anything.... secondly hope this helps but you can mail her maybe a picture you drew up for her or a picture you colored from a coloring book of her favorite character or maybe even some familarize pictures like ABC's colored and 123's colored or with pictures around the letters & numbers. Little girls love hearts and stars and happy faces maybe make her a picture of those things around her name in huge letters~ hope this helped?
Good Luck and again thats too sweet~

Im sure she has crayons, buy a colouring book and tear out pages and send her a page to colour, and since there are tons of pages, you can alternate between other ideas, like little notes to her telling her how much you love her. You can also print of colour pages from the internet as well. I know theres a Disney website, so if she likes any disney characters. Theres so much you can send her, even a piece of paper that says hello will make her excited. Plus you don't always have to buy something to send her, drawing a picture on paper will brighten her day.

Fun/ funny things Maybe you could send her spare photos of the family and stickers so that she can make them look 'nice,' like stickers of clothes and things. Maybe a story/ picture story, something she can read with 'Mummy and Daddy' and then every week you send her the next part of the story!
Haven't actually tried them out, just some ideas.

Print out coloring pages from the internet. You can print them for free at places like http://www.pbskids.org or http://www.nickjr.com
Stickers, confetti, photos from your visits with her, postcards from places you visit, pictures of things around your town if you live somewhere else, small paperback books, get a video mailer and send her a DVD, look at the local Dollar Store for cheap toys, little notebooks, packages of sticky notes, etc.

What about getting her a subscripton to a childrens' magazine like Highlights? This way she gets mail and gets something educational out of it. Or, go to the local bookstore or dollar store and get some books and mail her one a month - like her very own "Book club"!

You could send her postcards. You could ask family and friends to send her postcards as well. This work well, especially when you have family and friends who live in other states or countries or when they go traveling. The best thing about postcards is that they require less postage! She could start a postcard collection that could be put in a little photo album so that she can look at them when ever she wants.

Books, my daughter receives a book a month and gets so excited on the days we find one in the mail box. It is an inexpensive gift she can enjoy for years and it would be even more special if you write a little message in the front cover.

Send her lots of little pictures of her favorite cartoon caracters, send her cute pop-up greeting cards. Also, go to the craft store and in the scrapbooking section they always have little kits that include tiny little things like flowers, ribbons, cats, dogs, hearts, stars.. anything pretty much. You can include those types of things in the mail since they are usually flat, ayway. Cute idea!

Mail her a nice book of blank paper with some flowers pressing between the pages and some instructions on how to do it. Make a nice picture on the book with pressed flowers, cover them in a sheet of plastic. And include some blank greeting cards with envelopes for her to make flower designs for you and other people.
Obviously more of a spring project.
