It would be possible to confirm whether the child is related to you as your son would have your DNA and therefore his child(ren) would have some of his too. I can't advise any more but I think one of the other answerer raises a good question when they ask what she is looking for. Does she want the child to know the family of the son? Is she looking for financial support?
DNA testing could prove expensive. Something to think about.
I am sorry that you are having to deal with this. It is a very tough situation.

Don't suppose you still have any of his baby teath or his hair? This can also be used for a DNA test sometimes. I'm sure you would love to have the grandchild. And maybe it really doesn't matter - the child needs grandparents as well as his parents.
I'm fairly sure you can have a DNA test from your DNA that will connect you to the child if it's your grandchild.

As far as I understand it any siblings of your son share the closest DNA. Have them tested or even you could do it although the test may not be as accurate.
Do you want the child to be your grandchild? If so, why bother with the test, just be the grandmother.

I think it's called mytocondrial DNA. It's the DNA from you. But yes it can be done. Maybe she wants you to be in the childs life. It could be a blessing for you if you open up your heart to this child.

They can do testing to determine if you and your son's father are related to he child. There is a word for this kind of DNA testing. It is more expensive and only certain labs do it.
I hope it turns out in the way you would like it to.

If you have anything like a hairbrush or something like that of your sons, that may help out. Anything that it would be possible to lift your son's DNA from should do the trick.

Im not sure on this one, i would seek advise proffesionally.
I am sorry to hear about your son, but if the baby is your sons pherhaps you could have a realtionship with the baby.
Speak to the mother and see what she wants and take it from there.
Good luck

Yes! Definately! You get yours tested & the child & its mother gets theirs tested. Then you will know if your son could have fathered the child.

Legally it fairly dosent count number, till there is an sources in contact. And if thats the case it on her to educate the newborn is his.. no longer for you to educate one way or yet another. DNA sorting out ought to nonetheless be done if he grow to be burried, quite than creamated.. yet thats going to require and exhumation of the body.. You in my view do not have any legal duty for suggested newborn in any adventure... the in trouble-free terms aspect that would even remotely count number is an sources if he left behind ... sources/money
