I have thought it was growing pains but I am not too sure about that anymore. All the articles I have read about growing pains say that the child feels better with massage and that the child doesn't limp. My son screams more when I try to rub the knee and he has actually callapsed to the floor because he couldn't stand the pain. He has been limping for a couple of days now. He doesn't have any bruises and he says he never fell or banged it, that it just hurts. His doctor is on holidays of course. I will be bringing him in to see his doctor next week, but until then anyone have any ideas?

I am a single mother with no male influence around... My son is going to be 2 on the 17th of Jan, and he hates nappies, he is continually taking them off and when i do put them on him he just grabs at them and shows discomfort... He loves undies, but he still has accidents which is expected. I have a toddlers toilet seat and i take him to the toilet every 20 minutes or so... are there any suggestions or advice on how to go about toilet training him in an effective but patient way? any serious advice would be appreciated...

Also he seems more interested in television than us. He does not respond if we call him and his attention is in something else like tv or play. Is this okay? How do I change it if its not?

My daughter doesn't want to hug or kiss us as often as she wanted to in her younger months. She is 19 months old and If I ask her for a kiss.. she'll turn her head and make a no kind of expression... I don't ever force her to give hugs and kisses... but it is different from how she was 3-4 months ago.

By the way, nothing drastic has changed in our home so why is she doing this? and what can I do to get more hugs and kisses from her if there is a way other than just waiting for her to hug or kiss me... sigh... :)

My son and my brothers girlfriends daughter do not get along. She is 2 and he is 21 months old. They fight all the time. She trys to kiss and hug him and he doesn't like it, he fusses and pushes her away. When she is just feeling mean, I guess, she pushes him on the floor and tells him no no all the time. This has been happening for along time now, and I can' t help but giggle a little bit. My brothers girlfriend is babysitting my son now and the fighting is getting worse. My son smacked her accross the face the other day. How do we get them to stop fighting? We tell them that's not nice and not to hit, but that don't work.

Every time I see a question about someone nursing a toddler I see a lot of answers that don't really answer the question but point fingers at the mother. Is the perception that we don't feed our children anything else and don't show them any other affection? I am nursing my 16-month-old daughter. She eats three meals a day, two snacks and can handle her own cup and spoon. She has never had a bottle or a pacifier. I also shower her with hugs, kisses, tickles and spend all of my time with her (I had an office job that I took home with me). All of the other mothers nursing toddlers that I talk to do the same. Why this misconception that we're some kind of creepy weirdos that do nothing but thrust our breasts at our children all day?? Let me tell you that they ask for it at this age....or just help themselves!!! Then there's the point of people thinking that we're creepy for "enjoying" it too much. Why wouldn't I enjoy such a close time with my daughter??

Okay so my 3yr old Daughter has been going to her daycare since sept. Two days ago she came home and i noticed she had what i thought was boogers in her nose so i cleaned her up and found it was peanut butter in her nostrils. Me and her father asked her why she had put peanut butter in her nose and she started to cry and said she didnt do it. Yesterday she came home all upset and begged her father to not go back but wouldnt tell us why. Today we had no choice but to send her back. She came home with paint all over her back and butt. what is going on.

Is it normal for a 19 month old little girl to go through the phase of hitting? Even if it's her parents? If so what Can we do as parents to help all of us get through this phase. If you have or had the same issue what did you do that worked for you? and how long does this usually last?

I LOVE my 4YO daughter but a lot of the time I actually really don't like her. She is so contrary and oppositional. She seems to do whatever she can that she knows is wrong. No matter that she never gets rewarded for this and gets TONS of praise for her positive behaviour. It just seems to be her nature. I, however, can barely stand it anymore. What on earth can I do? I want to fix our relationship somehow but I can't change who she is - nor who I am. She's only 4, what will become of us when she is 13?

My son loves certain foods - toast, turkey bacon, chicken sausages, blueberries, bananas - and we're giving him the same foods over and over again because he is so picky. I've introduced new foods, but he rejects most. He doesn't want to use a spoon at all. I also can't get him to eat veggies - although he loves fruit. We give him V8 Fusion Juice to help with that issue (diluted w/water of course and not too much). He is gaining weight adequately and enjoys eating what he likes. Any ideas???
