A lot of boys aren't even ready to be potty trained until after they are two years and a lot aren't done being potty trained until they are around 3 years old, so I wouldn't be too worried. Just stay persistent when he shows interest again and it shouldn't be a problem. Also stress or any big changes in their lives or around them could trigger a change in their potty habits or make them lose interest.

Sometimes when something happens kids "regress" to an earlier stage. Has anything happened recently that may have been stressful? Has there been any tension in the house or changes in routines? Sometimes the holidays disrupt routines which can be a huge deal in toddler-land.

My suggestion would be to get back to his normal routine. Maybe bring back anything that helped with training in the first place. Toddlers like predictability. They like to know that after Mr. Rogers it's snack time and then they go potty and wash their hands and ... etc...

Putting very little pressure on him is important as well. I have worked with hundreds of children ages 4-8 and not one has been in diapers still. This means that somehow, they ALL learn to go potty in the toilet.

Wiping poo off his butt will be the hard part! My 6 year old can't seem to get that part down. Ugh. I'm throwing a party when he does.

my son started his potty training about 2.5 years old. He got it down and then did the same thing. Children will go when they are ready and if you push them they will stop all together. If something happened that might have scared him or something like yelling or anything that might upset him he can get set backs. It is nothing to worry about.

Dr. Phil has a method of 1 day potty training that children never revert from.

It worked on my 2 kiddos.

Just be patient with him. Don't get upset if he has an accident, because that might just make it worse. Give him time. Maybe buy him some "big" boy underwear with cool cartoon characters on them and tell him to try to keep Bat Man or whoever the character may be dry.

Just give him time, boy usually take longer to potty train. He'll get it, don't worry. Just keep at it and give him lots of encouragement.
