Try this one. Usually it is based on height and weight and the doctor checks what percentile (50% would be average)

I just read your other question, went back to this one to see what you were talking about and I am gonna answer this one :) Honey if you don't trust what your doctor is telling you then by all means please get a second opinion. If you think it would be wise to take your son to a dietitian then find another dr. that will give you a referral. I cant imagine any doctor in there right mind suggesting to take away the only thing that he is eating. Breast feeding is great for your little guy and the decision to Bf or not should be your opinion and honestly I think it should not have much to do with his weight at this point. I know you know this but at 12 months he should be eating solid foods. Offer him foods that are high in calories. I know you said that he just plays with it.. but if you do it many times a day you have a good chance of getting some of it in his belly. My son is a very picky eater and I have been told by his doctors that he is a bit underweight so I just put him in his highchair a lot during the day and feed feed feed him. No he doesn't eat close to it all but... we get some in. Keep breastfeeding by all means.. but just try to start a new schedule of him eating more foods. It will be tough and frustrating at first but after the first few weeks he will find some food he likes and I bet he gains a few lbs which is a step in the right direction. As for foods to feed him.. Veggies and fruit are great and all and by all means dont cut them out but they are a lot of water. Avocado is a great veggie if he will eat it. Cheese are great, breads...(my little guy loves cheese in a tortilla) He also loves the nutrigrain bars .. I honestly would offer him anything just to get him to eat. Good luck hun.. and don't let it frustrate you. The negativity can be hard when your making a decision about breast feeding.

Weight on average should be 3 times thier birth weight. So if 7 pounds at birth, should be right around 21 at age one.

I THINK ITS WRONG THAT THERE IS ANYTHING SUCH AS AN AVERAGE WEIGHT... WHICH WOULD THEN MAKE US PARENTS WORRIED IF THE CHILD IS OVER OR UNDER WEIGHT!!
SO LONG AS YOUR CHILD IS HEALTHY EATS A WELL BALANCED DIET AND NOT TO MANY SWEETS YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY MY 8 YR OLD GIRL WEIGHS THE SAME AS MY 5 YR OLD BOY THOUGH BOTH ARE EXTREMELY FIT AND HEALTHY NOR DO THE LOOK FAT OR THIN

A baby is usually triple their birth weight around 1 year. You should ask your pediatrician for a growth chart - It will show average weight/height growth for babies/toddlers based on their birth weight/height.

The simplest and best way is to contact your Health Visitor - they have all the up to date details through and can weigh and measure a child accurately and talk through any concerns you have - give your local health centre a ring or you should have your health visitor telephone number on your childs notes.

Ask a pediatrician. I wouldn't go by a website. There are too many factors, like height, were they premature, etc.
