My son and my brothers girlfriends daughter do not get along. She is 2 and he is 21 months old. They fight all the time. She trys to kiss and hug him and he doesn't like it, he fusses and pushes her away. When she is just feeling mean, I guess, she pushes him on the floor and tells him no no all the time. This has been happening for along time now, and I can' t help but giggle a little bit. My brothers girlfriend is babysitting my son now and the fighting is getting worse. My son smacked her accross the face the other day. How do we get them to stop fighting? We tell them that's not nice and not to hit, but that don't work.

Try putting them on time out. This is a hard situation considering their ages, but I'm sure repeated time out may help. You have to come up with a punishment and let them both know, every time, that their actions are not acceptable. Don't laugh at them or be leiniant with the situation because they will think that it isn't a serious issue and that it is okay to do. My son did the same thing with a one year old at day care (he's two), and I was astonished that just two time outs worked. I was suprised he even sat at time out like he was supposed to. The hitting went away, and all he really did after that was hiss at her. Try it.

as far as the stop fighting you can't you just have to keep telling them no it is not nice to fight and we need to share as far as the hitting when one hits take that one away and tell them no hitting and if they do it again telll them no and just hold them until they calm down it should only take a few minuets the only other thing is to use old school on them for example old school was you bite me i bite you back so let them slap each other back the one that slaped first will soon figure out it doesn't feel very good and will stop and you will have them getting along again soon or you could just deal with it untill they out grow it your pick good luck

When they push or hit each other put them in time out. When my son hits us we tell him he gave us an owie and make him kiss it.
