Well, first of all the statement the dad makes isn't true, b/c everyone knows men have to dividers between public bathroom stalls so that can't possibly be the reason he won't help. The way our family pediatrician taught us to train our 3 boys was to send them to the bathroom with daddy every time daddy went. Daddy then helps the little guy with his pants and then lets nature and natural mimicking behavior take over. When you do have to take your little one say things like "This is the way daddy goes to the bathroom." "Daddy never wets his pants and always go to potty here." You don't want to punish or shame him when he has an accident. Also the can't-feel-the-wetness diapers make potty training much harder. Allow him to feel the wetness in his pants and then quickly take him to the the bathroom to change, making no mention of the accident. Other countries don't have the potty training issues that our little ones do. I think somehow we make too much mention of it with the children instead of considering it a very natural thing to do. :) Don't let it ever stress you out. Stay calm and relaxed and enjoy your little One. :O)

If you will be potty training it is best to have him sit. Once he gets the hang of it you can teach him to stand and play the aim game with cheerios. It is best for him to learn the way you can teach. Each time you go to the bathroom take him. Good luck!

I started my son sitting down and then switched him to standing up when he got good at aiming! Sometimes he still sits, just because he wants to. Depending on how old your son is, it might be very difficult for him to balance himself on a stool standing up.

Start them sitting. They will not stand on average until they are 3 and they see another male do it regularly

Tell your Man to be a MAN! The animals in the wild learn from watching there young for God's Sake!!! If he can't feel confirtable peeing in front of his own son I am gussing he has no bond with him in any sence at all!

Start with sitting down first. It is easier, and he needs to learn to sit down anyway for bowel movements. We started my son off by sitting down, and then moved to standing up later.
