Get one of the plastic mats they sell for rolling computer chairs- they have hooks the hang on to the carpet, so it won't slide, and it's plastic, so you can wipe it right up with a cloth after each meal.

Lots of things! A towel, a blanket, one of those plastic or vinyl weather proof picnic blankets.

Check out the Land of Nod website. They have cute spill mats that are made specifically to collect messes! You can use these later to put under an arts and crafts table.

At the hardware store they sell plastic sheeting on a roll. This plastic sheeting is thick and is ribbed so that the high chair will remain in place. The plastic almost looks like a blue/grey in colour.

It washes in a breeze.

Get one of those floor mats that they sell in office supply stores to go under office chairs. They are made of a thick vinyl so they are easy to wipe off and are made to withstand heavy usage.

If you want something to re-use over and over you could always buy one of those office chair plastic floor pads and then just wipe it clean after the baby eats.

I use a cheap plastic table cloth - that's what collects everything my son drops. Plus we have a big dog that camps by his chair everytime we have a meal - what doesn't end up inside our breathing vacuum will be shaken out on the deck.

my aunt had a problem with my cousin cuz she was really messy when she ate. so my aunt went to the store and got a specific thing that is made for that reason. i don't know what it's called, but it's just a big washable thing of material that is sold in the baby section or highchair section. all you have to do it shake it off outside and wipe it down with a damp cloth. then every once in a while throw it in the wash.

Try a plastic shower curtain. When needed take it out in the yard a wash it with a hose and a broom. They're really cheap at the dollar stores.

A big beach towel or a shower curtain liner that you can buy at Walmart for a few bucks. You could use an old sheet, too, or a painter's tarp, but that would be too hard to wash.
