At the age of 5 my daughter was caught grinding on my friends son. I talked to her and that was the end to that. Today my sister calls me and tell me my daugter had one of her legs up grinding on the mirror like she was having sex. I do not know how to handle this. Do I talk, fuss, punish, what am I suppose to do?

hate hate hate housework etc

Love being a Mum don't get me wrong - just hate all the maintenance that comes with it - lol

Any other Mum's (or Dad's for that matter) ever on the odd occasion feel the same?

p.s Don't get wrong, I will/have done the best for my daughter - just mean the feeling inside I sometimes get.

I know what you're thinking..."this doesn't belong in the Parenting section of Yahoo Answers." But here's what I am asking...

As a parent, do the "High School Musical" movies give you hope about the next generation?

I know many of you probably hate these movies, but I watched them (as a 36 year old woman who is not particularly interested in Disney teen movies) to see what is so popular about it with this generation. What I liked was that it is so squeaky clean. There's nothing sexual about the content and even the "big moment" was whether or not the 2 lead characters finally get to kiss.

For me, it was a relief. The next generation isn't all into hard core rap and dressing like/acting like the troubled Hollywood starlets/singers (like Brittany Spears, Lindsay Lohan, etc). I worry about it now that I'm a parent.

How do you feel about it?
(this is really a question for parents... I know kids & teens may want to jump in)

My son is in preschool and will be going to his classmate's birthday party this Saturday. His classmate is a girl and she will be turning 3 years old. I don't know much about this girl and we want to get her a good gift that we know she can learn and play with. What's a good birthday present for a 3 year old girl in general? I'd like to avoid getting her a doll, as she probably has plenty of those already. Something like a toy that teases her brain and she can learn from but not too expensive.

A friend of my hubby's asked me to watch thier 4 children while they are at work. I am currently a stay at home mom. I will be watching 2 3 year olds from 2:30-6 and then the older two (4 and 6) will be home at 5:30. And then I will have the 4 of them till 11 at night. So more or less it would be from 2:30-11:30 five days a week. Does any one know what the rate of pay is for baby sitters? And how much I should or could ask for a week? Thanks!

I have a 1 & 2 year old and also run a full-time infant daycare out of my house. I realize that I picked a hard job but I did it so that I could be home with my kids and still help support our family. As you know running a daycare takes lots of work. I am constanly cleaning all day. My last child leaves at 5:45pm and my husband gets home @ 6. The house is usually a mess which I will leave unitl my kids go to sleep so I have some time with my family. But whenever I ask my husband to help me clean he starts an argument or starts saying this to me like " looks like you didn't clean anything today why should I have too" or or "I work all day ". I usually end up having to do it all on my own. I have tried everything, we have slept in seperate rooms for a month now because every night ends in a fight over cleaning. We can't afford a cleaning lady every night. The mess is not just from my work it's actually mostly from our kids. I need his help and do not think it is fair he dosen't have to

Maybe it's just me..but I am pretty laid back when it comes to parenting. I set rules and limits but alot of moms on here seem very "old fashioned" in their ways. It just seems not too many people have a sense of humor and let the weirdest things bother them. Is it just me?

My son has been going through the "terrible twos" for several months. He screams and cries, hits and throws massive tantrums, which is a normal phase in his growth. But, I also have a 2 month old. Life is getting worse everyday. I feel myself almost giving him a spanking, and I am against that. My older son was much more lax and mild tempered compared to my younger son. Any good advice on discipline or guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My son is getting over a small cold and has some molars coming in, the doctor says. (went to the doctor last week) He has no fever, sometimes he eats everything and other times nothing, but the past few days he is just really cranky, screaming, and crying for no particular reason. We have tried to pick him up, ignore him, read books, playing with toys, sometimes it works. He is also giving us a hard time taking his naps now, then he becomes so tired in the late afternoon. Any help is appreciated. This is my 2nd child and I did not experience this with my first one. It seems no matter want we do it just a temp fix. Isn't this early for the so called terrible 2's?

Would you go so far as to install an alarm system in your home just to keep your 2 year old from going outside without your knowledge? Open, honesty please.

I have a 5 year old daughter, a lot of people keep asking, when is the next one arriving?
When I say not now maybe in a few years, they always say "an only child is a lonely child".
My daughter has a large group of friends and a lot of cousins.
Do you think this saying is true?

2 years ago we found out that my husband's 12 year old nephew had made my then 5 year old daughter perform oral sex on him. We completely flipped out, took her to the appropriate counselling, doctor appointments, informed the police and what not and also cut all contact.

Since then he has tried to commit suicide 3 times. We were requested to have an interview with his counsellor who asked if we would consider writing him a letter to explain we didn't think he was a paedophile, and also asked us what would happen in the near future if say there was a family wedding.

Both my husband and I are happy to keep living life without him in it, but we understand there may be times when we cannot attend family functions because he will be there.

They feel he is not progressing with his counselling because we no longer have any contact.

I'm so confused, I have no idea what to do. I don't want his parents to have to bury him, but also don't ever want this little cretin to harm another child

I always hear people say that they want their kids to have a better life then them. My dad says that also. Yet I always hear of people not having a better life than their parents, and then that gets passed on to their kids. In the first place, the parents usually have nothing to teach the kids. Like my parents for example. My dad trys to give me advice, and tell me that he wants better things for me, and tells me what to do and what not to do to make something of myself, yet he hasn't done anything with his life, and his personal advice is crap. I have learned to not do what he has done with himself. So how can parents who haven't really done anything successful teach their kids to do a lot of great things with their lives?

a) abstaing from sex until adulthood/marriage

2) contraception/safe sex

c) both A and B

I think it is important for parents to say why it would be best to wait until adulthood/marriage however, I feel that it is more important to teach kids about safe sex. I feel that if kids want to have sex, they're going to. If I had kids, I would not want them to have sex until they are adults, but if they feel they are ready any earlier, I would rather they protect themselves.

Why?
