My neice that is 6 years old tends to get a little ruff on animals. I have banned her from animals. Once she kicked my cat who is the apple of my eye cause I bottle fed him from 5 days old. She is not allowed to touch my animals without me being present. Today she killed a toad. She stepped on it and pushed it into the ground so hard you could see the indentation of its body. She lives with us, so she was sent to bed. I want to punish her and thought of her tomorrow digging a hole and burying it? I want her to feel remorse? I'm thinking this may help do that or make her even more mad at animals. Any ideas??? She really worries me!

Would you rather see the schools teach girls martial arts for P.E. class or other sports? It seems like it would be better for them to learn to protect themselves. Do you think that if enough parents got together that they would be willing to do something like that? I think starting in kindergarden and going thru high school is better than them going gymnastics, soccer, or other sports. These sports are great if they want to do them, but they do not teach them to protect themselves.

A little over a week ago I found lice in my 3 year old daughters hair, I checked the two boys and they did not have it. I got a shampoo perscribed by the doctor, washed everyones hair (I washed my daughters 3 times), washed EVERYTHING in the house in hot water (took all day), sprayed everything and so on. Yesterday I took my 3 & 4 year old to get their hair cut and they both had it!!! I don't know what to do to get rid of it!!! I am a single mother who is having to miss work Again to take care of this, and I just want to make sure that it is gone this time, does anyone have any suggestions (they can not obviously go back to daycare with any nits so it needs to get rid of it all in a short amount of time). Thanks everyone

My daughter is 17 months old, and for the last 4-5 days she has had loose stool. Well I havent really worried about it untill yesterday.. Tuesday night my sister changed her diaper and it was a mustard yellow color with kind of a cottage cheese look. Then when she woke up yesterday morning it had a black tint to it.. Later that evening it was kind of black and yellow mixed.. Last night at about 4 in the morning she was dirty once again and it was the black tint again.. When her daddy changed her later it was brown and yellow with the cottage cheese look.. That was at 8 am.. My sister just changed her once again, and it is still loose. Still has the cottage cheese look, but is once again yellow. The only difference now is it has a really fowle smell to it.. We are taking her into the doctor at 3 to find out what is going on, but I am worried, and was just wondering if anyone elses toddler has had this problem, and if so what did it turn out to be??

I have chosen to stay at home with my son who is now 2. I know it's a gift that is invaluable to him. I have really enjoyed raising him and find it very fullfilling. When someone asks me what I do for a living and I say that I stay at home with my son I always get this weird look from other women. And when it's a woman that works and who has children they usually make some sort of comment about "how nice for you". I don't judge women for returning to work when they have a baby. I don't complain, I mind my own business, so why am I judged? Why do others think I'm lazy? Working mothers don't do it all themselves! They have help. They bring their kids to daycare, or other situations that alows them the freedom so that they can work. I choose to provide that care for my son and I work very hard at giving my son the best that I have to offer.

I know we are all proud to have our children in our lives, but what specific moment or event made you just sit back and say "Wow, I am so proud of him/her"?

If your neices and nephews were secerely destructive with your childs things would you ask them to bring their own toys when visiting....Assuming in this situation thier parents just say..oh we will replace that...and never do...and assuming your child takes care of her toys and is very upset by the children breakign them for amusement.....this isnt something happening i'm just wondering what others would do in this situation..because I would not have any problem asking the kids to bring their own toys

the first question was how would you react if someone called you a bad mother.

This question, what if it was somone who was your friend, a person who you believed waas a bad mother. After she went into detail to hundreds of people of why she thought you were a bad mother. Would you attack her motherlyness or leave it alone?

I see so many kids out in public that can TALK and have pacifiers. Why? It's for kids who don't have teeth so they can self-soothe. How long should kids have pacifiers and why?

tomorrow, i will be at a church sponsored soccer camp, its a day camp, and im helping out with the preschoolers with my neighbor Jodie and her kids, i was there today, and i had a blast, but tomorrow, shes bringing her friends daughter Ava who is a year old. i have a feeling that im going to watch her for a while, and im a bit worried about being at a public park,

she fusses alot, and i put her down, but im worried that shes going to pick something up off the ground and eat it, im very paranoied about sanitation and germs, especially when its children that im responsible for, we have a child leash for her, because she can walk, barely, and it makes her fall, thats the only way i can let her be on the ground, i dont want someone to walk away with her, or her to walk away,

My friend is 22 she is dating a dude that is 32 and she has a 2 yr old daughter that she lets shower alone with the dude while he and her daughter are both naked. I think she's too old to be seeing penises and he's not even her father so why is he showering with her. I think my friend might be alittle too trustworthy. Am I over-reacting?

Well my packing is done, the house all tidy but I am afraid to go to sleep now in case I oversleep and miss my train !(I have pre-booked a very cheap ticket to the Yorkshire Coast but *must* get on that specified train - certainly no hanging about in airport terminals for me though - I am my own "baggage handler"!).
I must say that it is nice just having myself to care for and I shall stay away just so long as the weather holds up - maybe even longer!
Isn't it nice to relax sometimes - after having had things out and leaving others to think about things until you return and the air has cleared?
Anyhow I am only saying this because last time I went off someone posted a question asking where I was - well this time you know and I am going to have a *real* break away from it all (including Y!A !).
Best wishes,
Joan.
Oh - I shall resolve the rest of my open questions before I go too - thank you for the answers - I have learnt some useful things.
