Usually between 5 and 6pm although varies depending on what we are doing that evening or if the kids have groups to go to. Any earlier and they are hungry again before bed and they wouldnt be able to hold out much later or they would start snacking and then not eat their meal.

I would start preparing the childrens meals at 4.30pm, so the would be ready to sit down at the table for 5pm,depending on the age of the children,Primary school children would be out of school by 3pm.so generally would be home by 3.30pm. so would have a little snack & drink ready for them coming in from school. If the children are sitting down for a cooked meal at 5pm that allows them 3/4 of an hour for their meal and spare time afterwards for time to play till 7o'clock while Mum & Dad are haveing tea! When children reach the age between 10yrs and 16yrs.if there are the older children coming home from grammar school at 4pm.they would have their snack & perhaps prefer to wait for Dad coming in at 6pm. and would all sit down for the meal together!

6pm as that is when her Dad gets in from work and I think it is really important that we all eat that one meal together. We chat about the day we have had and what we will be doing tomorrow. Then, it's time for a family game ie. snakes and ladders, read a book and then get her ready for bed. Sometimes, if she is hungry when she gets back from school, i give her a slice of bread and butter or a yogurt to keep her going but I think that we have all got used to eating fairly late.

I try to have supper on the table by 5:30 most nights, some times it is later - like 6 or 6:30 but those are rare times.

evening meals should be given at 6.30pm as i have a 3yr told and before when he used to come home from nursery he used to eat at half six with me then by half seven a shower and bed by half eight i noticed if i changed that time he would resist it more and he was used to it alot. i think every familly is different and every family has it own needs and everyone is different i would suggest make it work family to eat to gether and kids tend to eat more with family than alne
