Stay at home if I can afford it but I can't so I work part time.
It also gives me something else to do apart from attending to screaming children, changing nappies and watching children animated films.

My 2 children were both born premature(32weeks and 27 weeks) due to health issues I have to stay at home. I tried working for awhile because we really could use the money but missed so much work for sick kids and doctors visits(2hour drive to most of the doctors) that I had a hard time keeping a job. If a person can afford to be a stay at home mom that is the best thing for the family but If you have to work the you do what you have to to make ends meet. Some people are way to critical of moms that work out side the home. And believe me just because you stay home doesnt mean you dont work., Running a house and taking care of kids is WORK. ANd there are no vacations, weekends off, and holidays. No overtime pay either and you dont clock out at 5. So I say no matter where you work be it at home or in the workforce Good Job to ALL MOMs.

I'm a SAHM, and didn't plan on doing it more than several years, but there is NO way I would go back to work. It's meant too much for our family! We have had to sacrifice a lot (I was the higher income earner), but it's been totally worth it! We are just downsized as far as possible (free tv, don't go out to eat, I do all of the cooking, careful shopping, no techie stuff - and the computer we've just had a year, got cheap from a kids' place which has old government computers, so kids could have for schoolwork).
Whether working out of the home or in the home, all mothers should support one another for their CHOICE - after all, that's what feminism is about.

When they are very young like 3 and under, prefer to stay home. 3 and over I would like to have a work life and still time for the kids. I am currently looking for work so I can I have both since they are at school now. I have been finding it hard as most companies want someone full time or during hours I just can't do.
Hoping one day soon to have both. I enjoy working.

I went to work 5 months after my 2nd child was born (due to financial commitments). A year ago I changed my hours to only work part time in the evenings so that I can stay at home with my kids. I prefer to stay at home and I think my kids would agree.

I had to go back to work when my daughter was 4 months old, she stayed at home with my husband (I'm happy I don't have other people taking care of her). If I had a choice I would prefer to work part-time and spend more time with my daughter. But anyway, I work not only out of necessity, it's just that I'm not only a mother but also a professional. In this way I'm never tired of taking care of my baby, I have these few hours a day when I don't have to think of baby-problems. I'd love to be able to work from home, it would be perfect.

I think it depends on how old the kids are. I have a 5 month old and I love him to death but I personally am not the kind of person to stay home all day. Now I think it would be a different situation when he's older, then I can take him to the park and chase him around and feed him big people foods. But I think staying home all day with infants is how people lose it.

I work, I would like to stay at home but money would be tight and I wouldnt feel intellectually stimulated the same as I do working.
I try to get a good balance of work and home so that I dont miss out on doing things with the kids either.
I wouldnt like to work all the time and be away from the kids but I wouldnt like to be at home all day every day either so for me its a happy medium.

Its not what i prefer, i don't have a choice, i have to go out and work. I would prefer to look after my son at home but i don't have that luxury. Purely financial. I spent the first 2 yrs at home with him and then things got so tight i had to go out and work. You're very lucky that u can stay at home with ur kids but practically most ppl can't.
When i was a kid my mum was a single parent and i was always minded by other ppl while she worked. I don't hold it against her now i know she had to do it. Its just life chicks x

I would absolutely love to work from home. I have a daughter who is about to turn two next month. I stay home with her everyday because I can't work right now. I did have her in daycare for almost a year... but I hate leaving her there. Even tho I know I have to work I still feel like I am pawning her off on someone else who doesn't care as much about her as I do and I feel guilty, like I'm missing out and I am not raising her. Please, all you women who work from home... email me and tell me what you are doing! I wanna do it too! lol :o)
