A friend of my hubby's asked me to watch thier 4 children while they are at work. I am currently a stay at home mom. I will be watching 2 3 year olds from 2:30-6 and then the older two (4 and 6) will be home at 5:30. And then I will have the 4 of them till 11 at night. So more or less it would be from 2:30-11:30 five days a week. Does any one know what the rate of pay is for baby sitters? And how much I should or could ask for a week? Thanks!

I can tell you that if they were 11 hours in a daycare facility, for four kids, it would be at least $500 a week, but again, that's a facility and I know they have higher overhead. I'd ask at least $300 a week if it were me. Will they be providing supplies and food? If not, you need to either ask more or save receipts and have your expenses reimbursed.

It depends on what area you live in, what the cost of living is. I think it also depends what you will be doing with them. I assume you will be feeding them dinner and putting them to bed but will you be also be helping with homework (if they have any), driving them places, and doing activities with them? When I took 3 of my kids to a drop off daycare, the daily rate was $20 per kid for full day and $15 for half day. You could charge your friend a little less than that (or more if you have a higher cost of living in your area). Im not sure how well off your hubby's friend is but I know I couldnt afford $20 a day per child for 4 kids. I think I would charge $400 a week if I were in your situation.

$7.00 the first kid, and $1.00 for each after per hour.... So from 2:30 til 6. It would be $8 and hour. Then from 5:30 til 11 would be $10 and hour. So your looking at $83 per day.

I'm presuming you're in the states - don't know the exchange rate but here the going rate is about £6 - £7 per hour for one, so maybe charge £8 for 2 kids. (plus danger money.....)

You should be asking at least $350 a week, probably more since you will be feeding them.
