My son is 14 years old and is in the 9th grade. Yesterday was his birthday and his teacher allowed him to have a celebation in the classroom. He says that his teacher gave him and about 5 of his classmates 3 shots of vodka. My son came home from school drunk and slurring his words.
My husband doesn't really think that its such a big deal that our son came home drunk. He says that our son is old enough to make his own decisions and if he wants to be a drunk then that's his business not ours. Is this right? Should my son be allowed to get drunk if he wants to? Should I allow his teacher to get away with this?? Help please!

Usually with this question I just get women to reply. Men please reply. NO offense but I don't want long comments on how much you love your children and could never regret the best thing to ever happen to you! I'm not a parent but I think thats how most parents feel and I already know. Again no offense but thats not what the question is about.

I am a stay at home parent of three, and feel like I'm going nuts! I love my kids dearly and would do anything for them, but I find myself wishing I were back at work. I miss being away, having adult conversations, using my brain to assist other adults, and coming home to my kids after a day at work. Am I the only stay at home parent that feels pulled in two directions? And why is it so hard to be satisfied with such a great life?

i am a single mum for a boy of 3 years. i have been thinking of changing my job (KG teacher for 7 years) because in my country it pays peanuts. and i need to make more and have a job where there is an option of personal and professional growth, but at the same time it means long hours and less vacations and so time to see my son!

Many working parents feel the pinch when they have children and have to pay for their care while they both go to work and 1/3 of their money earned is gone to child care.

Lets se if you all realy pay attention this time..my question before was HYPOCRITES? and why do we cunfuse our own kids..this is it.....it is wrong? that we tell our kids one min not to take candy from the strangers and the next we are not only telling them to or letting them or even walking them ourselves. letting them knock on strangers door and ask for candy..I dont care if you know the person or not...the question is....is it wrong to tell them 364 days no and then 1 day yes?????????get it now......

There is no need to beat the s**t out of your kid , but I think you should be able to spank and punish your child... . if not then you end up with a world full of snotty brats that end up in Jail for the rest of their life..

by himself but still holds our hands pretty often. i heard i should get soft shoes, but are the stride rite soft enough, until now he had the robeez booties for when he walked on our hand.
please help, how soft do they have to be??? those i saw are not as soft as the robeez, but still softer than firm ones, but not so bendable .

thanks

At what age is a child old enough to.....be left alone in the car while you run into pay a bill or run into the post office or something like that.....go into the convience store to pay for your gas for you......walk into the school by themselves? I know people answers will probably vary, but I just want an idea of what people think. I mean, there is no manual for these kinds of things.

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a Methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question, ''Why didn't we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?''
I replied that I had a drug problem when I was young:
· I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings and funerals.
·I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.
· I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults.
I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
. I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profane word.

Kids these days seem to be getting way to much work in school and if they have extra curricular activities there schedule is full they don't have any time to do anything fun. So why is it that as soon as they are of working age parents insist on making them get crappy minimum wage jobs and pushing them out of the house before they even graduate? Kids have enough things to worry about with school and family and you want to force them to grow up before they are ready. Why don't parents let their kids be kids?
