Kids these days seem to be getting way to much work in school and if they have extra curricular activities there schedule is full they don't have any time to do anything fun. So why is it that as soon as they are of working age parents insist on making them get crappy minimum wage jobs and pushing them out of the house before they even graduate? Kids have enough things to worry about with school and family and you want to force them to grow up before they are ready. Why don't parents let their kids be kids?

If they have way too much on their plate in school, then take out the "extra curricular activities". You can just concentrate on your school work and then have fun on the weekends. A lot of times parents stress to their children the importance of education so that when they are of age, they are set for the "real world" and they have the brains to get more then the crappy minimum wage that you mentioned. Yes kids have enough to worry about but you also need to think about your future. I'm sure you don't want to be living off of your parents forever right? So if you don't want to be forced to get crappy minimum wage jobs, then forget the extra curricular activities and focus on your education because that is what will definitely determine whether you'll OWN the "paper or plastic" or will be asking if they want "paper or plastic"! Got it????? GOOD!

Well, I don't know about you but I think kids these days have it pretty easy. I guess you didn't see the report on CNN just recently that is suggesting that kids are growing increasingly more lazy. The average age of children moving away from home is 23-25 years of age. I know when I was growing up all I did was lay around the house and play video games. I quit job after job because I didn't feel like having the responciblity and moved out when I was 18 to a drug house so that I could continue being lazy. My sister is 21 and is a certified CMA but she chose to get a job at walmart and is continuing to live off my parents, not paying rent and blowing her money on junk. I think kids used to be very responcible years past and I think it would do children good if parents tightened the straps. I think you have a poor outlook and maybe you are mad at your parents for whatever reason. But this is my personal opinion. I know when my kids grow up they will know what it's like to do good in school and if they want money they will have to earn it. Kids aren't learning soon enough the lessons of life, so they never want to leave their parents sides. Growing up is tough. Life is not easy and if you want to have it easy you have to earn it. And having activities outside of school is important and healthy. I don't mean for it to take up your whole day but kids don't need to be laying around the house picking their nose and getting into trouble on the internet.

because, my dear, the sooner you learn that the world IS crappy, the better of you will be. You think you have enough on your plate? You haven't seen anything yet. It teaches the world don't owe you, you owe it. The world is just going to get worse, and you better be ready for it,
