I don't know about where you are, but when I was younger my parents would go through my candy with me and make me throw out anything that was homemade, unwrapped or unsafe looking. I think that good parents teach their children WHY you don't take candy from a stranger (it could make you "sick" or they might use it as a bribe). This teaches them the difference between Halloween and regular days.

your talking about Halloween because we are with them and we check there candy when we get home its a way of teaching them safety and not all strangers are bad we take them to our neighbors and friends

Halloween is a monitored event. it's not like i send my child to strangers houses unattended to get candy in the dark. we don't even go to place where we don't know the people.

We only trick or treat at the houses of people we know, so I am still following the rule I teach my daughter.
But I think that parents are more hypocritical about more serious things than trick or treating. . .

I dont believe in Halloween I believe its satans holiday and its just a day for evil to come out into the world. So I wont let my children do those things.
