Maybe it's just me, but are parents teaching there children manners any more? I was at the grocery store and got cut off and bumped in to and ever pushed, not a single person said "excuse me" or "Sorry" or any thing and when I would say excuse me because I wanted to get past these kids just looked at me. Maybe it's just because I'm in Central California, but I'm use to people using there manners back where I come from. I just cant believe that the people here are so RUDE! WTF???

Our 12yr old daughter thinks we hate her and wants to run away. All because we took her stuffed dog away for a day or less. she was told to leave her stuff in her room while she watched TV in the living room.

now we "are mean and we hate her." all this because we took her toy away. every time we tell her NOT to do something and she does it anyways,...she is shocked when she gets in trouble. we are not overly stricked. however we expect her to do as she is told and except the trouble she gets in if she chooses to ignor us.

now we "dont care about her." she is always freaking out about everything. everything is a tragity and she acts like she will fall down and die from it all.

nothing is ever good enough. no matter what we do for her...theres always something else she wants.

To me its almost like a cult-like mentality. Hell, one of neighbors the other day took out a 100K home equity loan to help pay for medical expenses to help her get pregnant........disturbing. I mean she doesn't live on a farm so she doesn't those "farm hands" to survive.....I just don't get it. Why are people so obsessed with procreation/having kids?

If the father disappers from the child's life, is it possible to change the baby's last name back to the mothers or do you have to have his consent?

I usually pay my aupair £50 per week. she doesn't really have to do much because i was still looking for a job. so the only time she has to look after my daughter is when i go to interviews. i asked her to do the washing up before me and my husband went away for the weekend ( was in her job description). got back tonight and she hasn't done anything. was worse than when we went. I tried ringing her about 30 times, but she didn't answer the phone. and when i got back and asked her she said it didn't ring.
She is leaving soon because of a family emergency, which now means there's no point me going for interviews as i don't have childcare.
So she's not actually doing anything!
should i still pay her the £50?

Just wondering if children who have two healthy, NON dysfunctional parents raising them are better then a single parent.
I totaly understant that some single parents are doing an awesome job...just would like to know if techinically the kid is better off being raised by two parents?

My stepdad does this and it gets on my nerves! It also makes me feel impatient with him and his kids because they are very wild and noisy, especially at bedtime. It makes me think that
I might as well become his children's parents,
and I'm only a teen! I can't raise them. And I hate my stepdad so much. All he wants to do is watch TV and go to sleep. He almost never wants to spend time with his kids!

My husband and I share dropping off and picking up our daughter at day-care (I drop off, he picks up).
Now being 9-months old, she has grown out of her infant car seat. Will we need to purchase 2 convertible car seats, one for each of our cars OR do they come with a base, similar to the infant car seats?
