I am having trouble beleiving that your son was given vodka at school by a teacher, being it is against the law to have it on the property. If your son really came home drunk, he and some friends probably got into it away from school and are blaming it on the teacher.
I would go to the school and set up a meeting with the principal, and make your son come with you and I think that you will find that the teacher did not give it to him.
To answer your original question, your son is underage, it does not matter what your husbands opinion on the matter is, if you live in the US, a fourteen year old can not be given alcohal by an adult, or that adult will go to jail, so if this really happened then the teacher needs to be in trouble.
I am sorry I find this hard to beleive, but because of the laws govern the schools, this really is virtually impossible, and if it did happen that teacher needs to be dismissed. I am not saying that you personally are making up this story, but your son might be.

You husband is wrong, if for no other reason than it's inconsistent with the law.
If this really happened, you should contact the principal and school board. You might want to have other parents back you up. You might even want to bring along a lawyer.
However, it's possible that this didn't happen. That you son got the alcohol some other way. 14 year olds, even good ones, do tend to construct stories.
If you husband wants to sweep this under the rug (or, worse, justify it), you might want to consider if he's really an appropriate parent. Sorry to say it, but no responsible parent would decide that 14 is old enough to make decisions.

Well - contact the school - and determine if the teacher actually did that or if you son actually had vodka shots at a friend's house and blamed it on his teacher. If it was an in-class party then there had to be non participating witnesses. (does the teacher allow parties such as this for every student??)
Your son is somewhat old enough to make his own choices, but is obviously not mature enough to make the right choices.

No he shoudln't. If the cops catch your son drunk there gonna blame you . They could also place your son in protect service if he drunk when hes around you. No the teacher should be fired. Theres a reason the law says you must be 21 or older to drink. Adults 21 and up can tolerate achol better than someone under 21. In your sons case 14 it will cause growth problem if he drinks at a young age. At 14 it takes longer for the body to get immune to the alchol it can have side effects.Until your sons eighteen your responsible for your sons actions.

You should not let the teacher get away with it... you should contact the board of education and complain about the teacher.. there is a fine for having alcohol on school property, and the teacher could get fired, and have to pay a fine. You could actually also call the police because that is putting people in danger... having a teacher that gives out alchol.. and your kid could have gotten hurt, because he was drunk and it's really aware of what he's doing. But also your son could have made the decision to take it or not.. and he took it.. so your son might be introuble himself because he was using.. alcohol on school property too.
And your son is under the legal age to consume alcohol.

Your son getting drunk I wouldnt worry about, the teacher giving your son vodka I would worry about, this could end up with the teacher getting your son drunk and taking advantage of them. I would report him or her to the school board as well as the police. Many charges can be file leading to the deliquency of a juvinile, supplying a minor with vodka, the charges go on and on just let your son know drinking is okay as long as it is controlled

I would call the police..and the school that teacher should not be allowed within a hundred feet of a 14 yr old child or any child for that matter. what is he trying to teach how to drink vodka 101?As parents we intrust our childrens safety and well being to their teacher the very people that are suppose to mold them into a successful adult. That teacher stepped over the boundaries and should be held accountable.

I cannot believe that any right minded teacher would do such a thing. Are you sure your child is telling the truth?
I'd have a word with the headmaster. But be prepared for a different story from the teacher.

Apparently the law(in my state) says you have to be 21 to purchase, consume, or be in possession of alcohol. I seriously doubt that any state has the age set at 14. And another thing, you are responsible for your child. If you or any other adult, as in his teacher, allow your child to consume alcohol, you or the adult who supplied it or allowed it can be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. You and your husband need to wake up a smell the coffee. I would press charges against this teacher if I were you. If another faculty member or parent knew of this, they could already have alerted authorities and it would be investigated and they could press the charges .

And I thought I couldn't be shocked anymore. If this is a legitimate story, yes the teacher needs to be reported. In addition, your husband needs to be a Father. "If he wants to be a drunk that's his business" - What! I care more about your son then his own Father does! I want him to be a good productive member of society who did well in school , has a future, and isn't going to kill a member of my family while he is out drunk driving. A couple of adults need to grow up themselves and do their job.
