My son is 6 years old and he is in kindergarden and he got held back last year because he will not talk to his teacher. He has ADHD and he will not calm down at home but once he gets to school he will not talk. They think he has social phoba. I don't want him on any med's because of the side effects with liver and stuff. What can I do to make him talk to his teacher?

I bought a fish for my 3 years old and when it died I didn't hesitate one bit about telling her the truth. I told her Dion died. She asked me what that meant and I told her that he didn't live anymore and that he wasn't going to come back to us. She had no problem with that. I think she knows what it means to die. She's said to me before, "Mommy, if you die I will be really sad." I think it has helped her to learn about death with a pet before a relative that she loves. A friend of mine told her daughter that when her fish died it got too big for the fish tank and had to go swim in the river. I just don't understnad what the big deal is...let them learn, and hurt, and experience all the feelings that come with life. Do other people tell their kids that the fish (or dog or cat or whatever) died or do they lie? And why do you lie? What lies have you told?

Or is it about equal? It seems that during childhood and adolescence, boys are the ones that get the most freedom and they get to do things a lot earlier than girls do. I know that I didn't start driving until I was a senior in high school, while my brother was allowed to drive when he was just a sophmore. He was given a lot more freedom than I ever was...although I was older. Is this because, girls are seen as needing more protection and sheltering than guys are? Does this urge to protect and shelter girls, make it more difficult for parents to raise them than boys?

Recently, I started dating men that have children and I hear this story way too many times...she won't let me see my child. The fathers are paying child support and they always have to end up going to court to get visitation rights because the mother wants to act like a fool when it comes to seeing the child. But why do they have to even go through all that? It seems as though fathers have absoultley no rights whatsoever even if the mother is CRAZY which I think is crazy.

Why do women do this to their child? I am a single mom and I couldn't imagine doing this to my son. His dad and I worked it out amongst ourselves and he gets our son every other week. I ENJOY every minute of my freedom and I can't wait for him to come and get him so he can spend quality time with him. So this is why I don't understand how a mother would use their child as a weapon. Does anyone know someone doing this type of thing or are you yourself doing it?

My nephew is bowlegged and my sister refuses to take him to the Doctor to check him out, and I asked my CHKD if he might be autistic and she said he might be. He's 16 months and drools a lot, hasn't said one word yet, and can't hold a cup. How do I talk to my sister and get her out of denial and get my nephew medical attention?

and future children of some of the askers here?

Everyday I read questions from people whom seem way to stupid to be able to care for a small helpless child. Not to mention my fear of the future gene-pool.

Does this scare anyone else as much as me?

I certainly can top that. My sister who is 22 hasn't seen her daughter in two weeks, and they live in the same house. My sister decided to work from 12:30 pm to 9:30 pm and she chose to do that so when my mom is taking care of the children in the morning she knows she doesn't have to. So she wakes up around 11:30 am takes a shower and is out of the door and refuses to say bye to the kids. She doesn't see her children because they are in bed by 8:30 pm. She and her fiancee broke up and he never sees the children also. She just started to date again, after f*cking every guy she met and making her kids call them Daddy.Well, Just my mom and his mom are the caregivers, His parents are the worse, I went to their rotten house because I was meeting my mom to go to the mall with her and we had to pick up my nephew. The mom had tossed Donovan to me, got in a car and split. I was so confused. The only person My niece and nephew really love is my mother. My niece even calls me mommy which is wrong. I asked her does she like her mommy's new boyfriend, and she said no, because he takes up all of her time. My sister is planning to move in with this man, he has a dui just like her ex fiancee had a dwi, so she picks them perfect right? He is pretty much a kevin federline. My sister has never been there for the children and it hurts. When I just turned 16 I took care of my niece when she was just born, because my sister didn't want to. That's how I knew I was going to be a great mom.

So the party at daycare, She had a bad day and spent a lot of time in time out DURING the party. How can I ease her into doing the big trick or treat? I don't want to have a crying baby in public.

to tune into and know each of their childrens personalities and what is needed from them to give them a better chance at being a well adjusted adult? For instance, if you know your child is extremely sensitve, shy, and maybe lacks self-esteem (naturally). Isn't it your job as a parent to watch what you say to this sensitive child so as not to damage them emotionally? Isn't it your job to praise this child as much as you can in order to build this childs confidence and self-esteem? Do you think a child like this would be damaged as an adult if they only heard about the bad or was critized growing up? How do you think they would probably turn out as an adult?

hello everybody,

I have two twins - Dana and Eric; they are 4.5y old. usually, they play together and do not do problems. however, some day I spanking Eric on his bottom because he broken an expensive vase. after the spanking, Eric cried a liitle and Dana too. i thought she was cring because she was sad for Eric. I ask her about it, and she said that she is sad because I give attention only to her. its hears strange because when I spank to her she is sad. I explained her that Eric did worng thing and accordingly I spanked him, but its didnt help.

the problem is that Dana began to
behave worng for getting attention (As spanking). for example, some days when I back home late (The children were with babysitter) Eric was sleep but Dana didnt, and the sitter said that Dana was cheeky, cursed, and didnt agree to sleep. i said to dana "why didnt you behave as good girl? you will get punish! you will not meat youre frindes for a week!" but she continued to cursed, so I spank her.

I live without my husband.I have 3 daughters, S(age 15), K(age 14) and J(age 14).K is pregnant from a guy she had had sex with(they didn't know each-other).K is in 8th month now.In my house the rules are sipmle - everybody does his house work which includes washing plates, mop floors, shopping, make the bed, tidy rooms, etc.Recently K pretends to feel tired because of the big belly and doesn't want to mop the floor in her room and tidy the room.I don't think she is right and the rule is - if you dare to get pregnant at 14,you have the consequences,so I don't treat her more indulgently than her sisters. After the complaint,I punished K and now she mops the floors in all rooms and tidies all the rooms. She also washes her clothes without a washing machine. When do I HAVE to abolish the punishment?I want her feel hard to do the work. She is in 31 week. Her belly is really big for a pregnant in 8-th month. When she will REALLY be unable to do the work?
