My son is 10, and we live about a 10 minute walk from school. It's a fairly safe route, with one set of traffic lights (although for a pretty busy road). My biggest concern is that he looks quite a bit younger than he actually is - do you think that would make him more vulnerable?

He is a very sensible boy, good at crossing the road etc. I'm just wondering what parents of other kids this age think.

I have a 8 year old in grade 2 and a nearly 7 year old in grade 1. I used to try and get them to bed 7 to 7.30pm but now they are not getting to bed until around 8pm. Friday and Saturday nights they are allowed to stay up later to watch a DVD or if we go to friends' places etc. Just wondering what time other kids at this age are going to bed. They both wake around 6 - 6.30am.

I love to spend time with my children and I have basic cable, but I feel the t.v. is always on! How do I go about without the t.v. on without removing it. I need it off. there is a t.v in my son's room, I wouldn't mind taking it out and using when I want him to watch movies in his room. How do I stop thinking about what is on martha stewart and passions. The internet? I'm so busy playing with the kids and cleaning, and I stop for a moment to stare at the t.v and move on. It kills me..help.

my daughter most times see shows on tv.
and sometimes a show would have people on their cursing but they bleeped it.
i thought that was supposed to help from making kids understand.
but now, whenever shes mad, she says stuff like ''i dont give a bleep'' or ''im not bleeping going in the shower!!''
and that surprised me because now it has become a very bad habbit of hers. i dont allow her to see these shows anymore. its not like i've alowed her before this happened. but im mre cautious now.
how do i get her to quit it.
i tried explaining to her but its a habbit when shes mad.
when she does say it she goes ''oops!''

If a parent believes in faith healing and not in modern medicine and chooses prayer as his method of treatment for his children, does that make him abusive? If he feels that he has experienced faith healing and he feels that it has been proven in his past, would it be considered abuse?

I'm a stay at home mom, what do I do? Is she crazy? I clean kitchens, throw up, poop, pee, milk, potty training, I care for the children, clean the spoiled milk droppings and smell out of my car, pay bills, lug two kids around with a heaving a$$ double stroller, I go to physical therapy for my daughter's neck, I do a thousand things a day, and I have no idea why she asked me what do I do! She must be on crack, how do I give her a good response instead of what do you mean, I'm a mom

I'm not being judgemental, I'm just stating the obvious. The parents are older in these shows, and they can't handle the pressure of a 3 yr old freaking out. Why do older moms give younger moms such a harsh review, just like in the recent babytalk magazine about young and old moms, the older mother's had very rude things to say. Why be judgemental, we are all going through the same thing in life, why can't we just all get along?

If you have watched Nanny 911 , what do you think of their discipline style. Please answer only if you have children you are currently raising under the age of 18. I know what the old schoolers like me think :)

ive always said i never want kids, but girlfriend wants them :/ - thing is with me i like my freedom and own space... i'm 25 and know for a fact your life is over once a child is involved, (tied down/sleepless nights/changing nappys grrr)!!

some neighbours who live near me are in their mid 30's, no kids...just a couple who go out to the local pub/go to the cinema/meal (one or the other) every night after a days work and i think to myself "i want to be like that" (just me and my partner).

would love to hear other peoples views about parenting, is your life really over? :/

Bedtime is 8 p.m. for my kids. However it is always a fight to get them there. When they are in bed they keep getting up. Sometimes they don't actually go to bed until 10 p.m. This time is supossed to be my time but by the time they are asleep I am too tired to take any time for myself. Any suggestions? Please no rude answers.

My daughter is 1 yr & 6 mos. And begins to show her tantrums in almost everything. I don't want her to grow as a spoiled-brat. What are the means I could use to discipline her? Is slight spanking one of them? At what age can I use this?

My Grandmother is constantly putting her two sense in where my children are concerned. When I try to discipline them she will argue with myself or my husband in front of the children and completely undermind us. I can't raise my children the way I need to when she keeps underminding me in front of my children. They end up not respecting me and they won't listen to anything I say. It's obvious my Grandmother doesn't even respect me since she continues to do this no matter how much I ask her not to. I yelled at her this morning for it because I am tired of it. It has to stop! I don't want her advice. She raised losers. My mother hates me because I look like my father. She disowned me and called me a beaner when I was growing up. She also beat me. I have an uncle that molested me and another one that is a druggie and alcoholic. The only thing that saved my other uncle was the military. He was always in jail. I have another uncle and an aunt and they are both weird. She raised these people

I am this boy's "Big Brother" as in "Big Brother/Big Sisters". I have gone to many of his games (soccer, baseball, etc) and we had probelms, him not saying Hello , etc. We had a talk about manners and what you do when people come see you play and he improved and then would say Hello, but it was like I was making him. He then went back into his bad mode and stopped saying hello and even started to ignore me. I stopped going and told him why and said that he has to be OK with me at the games etc... and he just needs to let me know about his games and I would be happy to go. I didn't go for a long time. He did give me a schedule to his fall games and I have been going, but he is not acting great. If I say something to him or ask him something he will respond, but he will not say hello unless I say it first. There just doesn't seem to be any type of possitive with me going to the games. Like it doesn't matter to him. Should I continue to go? We get along otherwise.
