Those magazines only talk about a few topics whereas a book gives you more in-depth information. When I became pregnant, I read a ton of books and took a parenting, breastfeeding, and childbirth class from the hospital. What I learned most from, though, was "on the job training", just being with my child. I found that each child is unique, so no one can truly prepare you fully for your own child's experience. Yes, information is good to have, but also you have your maternal instinct to guide you so it's not as scary as you might think. Good luck!

no I would think so, I would read books not magazine, books take time to put together while magazines might have incorrect information in them, which has happened. Magazines cost less then books? I would buy baby's first year, if you are wanted to know about pregnancy there is a book called pregnancy week by week, and it's just great! I read magazines to see about new activities. I always go to Babycenter, com to know about milestones and other great info.

your mum (if she was a good one) and the best source ...YOURSELF. Listen to that inner voice and trust it.
Important things though. No baby powder in genital area (very very bad) Always use a properly fitted restraint in the car and these two sites are fantastic. Read the SIDS one it is the best information you will read. Australia is leading the way in SIDS research.
The second site is the best parenting program their is. I give my sanity to doing this course

throw the books-etc out the window.go to the source,i asked people whose kids had grown & had really become great kids-adults, what advice they had.one nurse told me ,always feed them sitting up, not to use baby powder, GREAT ADVICE, she never spit up & was very healthly, as a child. i asked my husbands cousin, how she raised such great kids, she said, i enjoyed them, & had a lot of fun with them.i am really serious, ask only those who have done a great job & been thru it. don`t listen to well-meaning people whose kids are acting out.
