i'm glad if most parents smoke outside their home, ( i know many personally that don't) so they won't have anything to worry about if they smoke outside then, will they?

Parents who smoke should be made to smoke outside of their home and not in their vehicles, which will be passed hopefully soon to do so.

Smoking is unhealthy for themselves and their child. It also sends the message that it is ok to smoke as parents are role models. My 13 year old future sister in law just got caught smoking at school. Not only does her mom, step dad smoke, so does her grandmother, aunts and uncles. Therefore, it is a bad influence on top of unhealthy second hand.

Thats it lets police what goes on inside ones home. Most parents that do smoke are usally outside smokers, but now with all of these bans going on that will be illegal as well and then they would have no place other than the home to smoke. Many parents smoked around their kids many years ago and the children didnt have cancer when they got older. We dont need to police what people smoke drink or eat in the privacy of their homes whether you agree with it or not.

Yes. I smoke outside. I would never smoke in the car or in my home regardless if my kids were or weren't there. A long time ago my husband and I smoked in our home and then one day after coming back from a trip--we decided to stop doing that. Not only can it damage a child's lungs but it stinks too!

I t is child neglect My step sons mom smokes with him in the car in the house anywhere and he has chronic bronchitis and asthma and is always very sick. My husband used to smoke outside and decided to quit because even if you smoke outside when you come in you bring the smoke with you and it is still bad-this after countless trips to the ER because my step sons mom wont take him to the doctor and the ER doctors and nurses explained to him that even if you don't smoke around a child just having it on your clothes is just as harmful.

It shouldnt be done, but its not abuse. If that was the case then we would have to say serving junk food is abuse, walking through your house with shoes on(as one lady said in a previous question) because they spread germs from the outside., etc, etc..Their are so many things taht will hurt a child. Smoking in the house or car is bad, but I wouldnt go to the extreme of calling it child abuse.

I don't think parents should smoke in the home, I myself smoke, but I go outside, I don't want my children to have to be around it, it's my health concern and not theirs.

You can make a pretty good argument for that, but it won't fly since the parents aren't doing something illegal. It's a catch-22. It's not illegal to smoke, therefore it's not child abuse. It's damaging to children, therefore it should be illegal.

Shouldn't stupid parents be considered child abuse? Smokers can barley smoke any wear. Let us have our homes to ourselves. Not to smoke excessively in front of children, but to light up in peace.

I agree, parents should not be allowed to smoke around children and it is neglect. You would be neglecting your child health, increasing the chances knowingly that they could become ill.
I smoke....not in my house....not infront of my daughter.
If I can help it..i dnt smoke until she goes away for visits to my grandmothers house.
