If you have watched Nanny 911 , what do you think of their discipline style. Please answer only if you have children you are currently raising under the age of 18. I know what the old schoolers like me think :)

I like all discipline approaches, most of there tactics are great for minor misbehavior.
I love the show, as do my girls. I like them more for the entertainment value then anything else. My daughters would never dream of pulling that stuff though.
Your not the only old school-er left, my poor kids are stuck with one too. If my girls ever spit, or hit me, if i ever heard them cussing or anything else these kids get away with, MAN it wouldn't be no knotty step for them. Try there bare little hiney up over my lap getting a good dose of my hand. People criticize me for my old school beliefs but they work, and when you give a proper spanking the way i explained above, you do far less of them overall. I have never seen any of these kids on Nanny 911 or Super Nanny shows suffering from to many spanking. Simply put, spanking parents don't put up with that kind of behavior, PERIOD.

I have watched Super Nanny and I like a lot of the ways she deals with things. It makes the parents the parents and the children the childresn. Too many parents let their children walk all over them. I like the way she does the nighttime routine (just letting them cry it out) Thats what I did and both my children (2 and 4 months)sleep in their own beds and have since they were 3 months old. The naughty step...is a different story. I believe you give a child one warning and then spank them if they disobey again. (Not hard or a beating or anything) This.."I'm counting to three and you better...1,2..." stuff is ridiculous!
I don't know if Nanny 911 is different.

first of all, I don't like the show, I like supernanny, and I would follow some of her ways as to things, but never nanny 911 they are just slobs and really don't help the show just shows off the negative reality instead of a peaceful enviromental reality. Second of all, what kind of parent lets a 3 year old get under their skin and let the kid walk all over them. The older parents who can't handle kids that's what.

2 days after nanny's gone, you know it's going to be the same as it was before.
Her discipline techniques are good, but it's not her that makes the kids listen....it's only because she's someone other than the parents....any other adult could do the same. In an instance where my kids wouldn't listen...I could use the same discipline, but with other kids....and it would work perfectly.

I LOVE NANNY 911!!!! I have a degree in Early Childhood and in Psych and I'll tell you.... if more people demanded respect and appropriate behavior from their children they would get it. I'll admit I might add a swat on the behind for emphasis at times, but you can't do that to someone elses children.

i watched it and said the nannies were like me because i dont take **** from my kids

i think it is OK but it too harsh i think about taking the pacifier from the 2 yr old kid
