My 3 year old has been in daycare for about 3 months now. I drop her off at 7:00 am and pick her up at 6:30 pm. I know it's a long time, but I'm a single mom and have to work. Anyway they have a rule that the kids must wear shoes and socks at all times even while sleeping, sandals are not permitted. Their reasoning is if there is a fire they will not have time to put shoes on all the kids. When my daughter gets home her feet are quite sweaty from having shoes on all day. Is your child’s daycare like this? Is this common with most of them? I can understand them needing to wear shoes, but I think they should be about to take them off while sleeping if they choose. What do you think?

I have a six year old boy, Can be the sweetest thing when he wants to be but when he doesnt get his way will throw HUGE temper tantrums including biting his siblings (both girls), throwing toys/furniture, colouring walls and even swearing. He is a middle child. I have even tried giving him more attention only to have made things slightly worse. My methods of punishment that AREN'T working are time out, taking away privledges like friends or tv, even refusing him dessert. I know children will be children and act inappropriate at times but it seems as he gets older hes becoming more aggressive. Any ideas? My other option was taking him to a specialist but I only wish to use that as a last resort. Be aware there are some more behavioural issues I havent mentioned and wish not to disclose.

about the commercials we see on tv. I have my little one year old daughter crawling by the tv while a commercial about the movies saw, friday the 13th etc are on (two in a row) How is it that we can't show a butt crack on tv, or a set of breasts, but any gorry, voilent stuff is okay. What can I as a concerned parent do to make a change. I don't want to see all that violent stuff either, and please don't tell me to turn off the tv, I see this stuff while watching comedy or other non-violent stuff, so it is not my choice. Are any other parents feeling the same way, is it congress I need to write or what can I do, please give advise

I have these two best friends, one is a girl and the other is a boy, they were dating for over 2 years, (Lets say there names are Ashley and Aaron) and now Ashelys pregnant and Aaron is FREAKING OUT!!!! This was the most quiet kid I have ever known, he never said anything, never really did anything, he is devilishly handsome...anyway, as nice as he was, he is absolutely refusing to help raise her child, he wont even talk to her. I confronted him about it and he is avoiding eye contact telling me to mind my own buisness, I heard his best friend telling him in class that he would drive him to California. I was so pissed I pushed him halfway down the stairs after school. I've tried everything possible to make him change his mind, and I've come to the fact that if he leaves, I'm gonna help Ashley raise her baby, from diapers to college, is this a good idea? Is it to much responsibilty for me? cuz she doesn't have anyone else, whats the right thing to do? were both 16 going on 17.

What damage to you think it does to lie to them, short term and long term?
Like daily lies: Santa Claus, Monster under the bed, tooth fairy, death of pet, etc.

Yes, I'm a neat freak. I have everything organized the way I like it and God forbid it ever get crazy--just kidding but I do like everything to be neat. I was just wondering how other parents organize their home in order to keep their sanity--maybe I'll get a few more ideas?

Creative costumes?
Just curious on what your child is going to be?
Do you buy their costume or make it yourself?

My 4yr. old wanted to be a Faerie. I made her this really beautiful little dress and wings and a matching little bag for the candy, it's very earthy and very adorable.

Like I mean having the camera focused right at your vagina??? Why??? You could always skim around that part, but some people are dead focused on that area. I highly doubt a child wants to see that when they are older. I am not immature, i just dont see why some women want everyone staring at their bloody hairy stretched out vagina, I mean isnt that kinda personal???
Help me out here, am I the only one who thinks this?

My dd is 2 years old. She is a bright affectionate child full of fun, we laugh alot but when she gets into her head she's gonna do something irriguardless of whether it's wrong or not, she's gonna do it!
I do time-outs, taking away all privalages, talking to her and explaining, spanking, standing in the corner, making up for her naughtiness such as having to clen up toys etc. Not getting dessert....I'm at my wits end, and i know alot of us have been there done that and some will say it's the terrible two's it will pass, well, it needs to pass with her knowing she can't do things and get away with it kwim!!!
I have no family support not even my in-laws, we never see them. She goes to mothers day out twice a week thats all we can afford and she does fantastic, listens, does as she's told, shares, eveyryone loves her, but at home, she can get the biggest strop and will play deaf in a heartbeat! So, anyone with any suggestions or tricks that worked for you?

If you don't eat your carrots you won't see in the dark!
Father Christmas can see if your being naughty, and he won't bring you any presents!
and my personal favourite i used to say when the ice cream man came round our streets 'Yes that tune means he's actually RUN OUT of ice cream'
What did your parents say? or what did/do you say to your kids?

I've seen formulas on the shelf for one year olds to two year olds. Is thatr a waste of money? Been thinking about switching my 1 year old from milk to this formula.

How are you supposed to pay your mortgage and household bills, food etc?

I'm expecting my first baby in December. My partner is a barman on a low wage. He is desperately trying to find a better paid job but with no success right now.

There is no way we will be able to cover all our necessary bills on his wage because it is too low. I'm not talking about luxuries. Just food, roof over our head, clothing heating etc.

I'll have to go back to work when my baby is about 3-4 months old because I have no choice. I hate the idea and would love to stay home with him but otherwise we will not be able to pau our mortgage and lose our home and I don't want my child to be brought up in a homeless shelter!

Incidentally, before you say "you should have planned this before you had the baby" - I was told I couldn't have kids so we were not "planning" a baby, we were "planning" a childless life! I earned more than my partner in the job I was doing at the time.

My thirteen month old had less than an ounce of milk before nap, then when he woke up two hours later, he had apple juice, now he is spitting up curddled milk. Why? It's nothing serious, not vomiting. Just wondering if maybe milk is too hard on his stomach? He doesn't like drinking milk.

Do you think there are alot of things that aren't considered child abuse but should be? There are tons of things that I just think "That poor child.." and it makes me mad that parents get away with it. I've been thinking and I've come up with a list of things that in my opinion should be considered abuse. I've put my reasons next to them too. What do you think? Are these things that should be considered abuse?

Smoking in your home/car--2nd hand smoke is more harmful than actually smoking & children should not be subjected to it.

Taking your kids with you while getting your nails done--there are disgusting fumes all throughout the nail salon that smell horrible and are probably not good for you to inhale.

Walking through the house with shoes on--you go to dirty places and step in spit, mud, oil, bacteria, dog crap, etc. & then walk through your living room which is the same place where your children play & they're playing on that spit, mud, oil, bacteria, etc.

My son is 5 years old and has always been a very greedy child. Most kids his age eat much less so I'm worried he may have a problem. He has always been greedy even as a baby and I just thought he had a heathly appetite but I don't know if this is a good thing or not.

For example, he will eat an entire can of Chef Boyardee Ravoli and most kids only eat half. We went out to Pizza Hut a few weeks ago and he ate 4 slices (I could ony eat 2 and I'm grown) and he was going to eat more but I told him no. Sometimes when he gets done eating these large meals, about 10 minutes later he will ask for a snack. Most of his babysitters say he eats them out of house and home. I find that embarrasing because I know I feed him more than enough food. I don't give him many sweets. He has a slim build, so he is not fat. I ask him why does he eat so much and he tells me that he likes food. Can he tell if he is full at this age? Should I regulate and stop him when I think he's had enough or ignore it?

I'm 30 and I live with my daughter J.(4-year-old) and my best friend(K. - she is 15-year-old,very mature,an orphan,I adopted her when she was 10 but she has never been my daughter,we both are very close friends). My daughter never listens to me,I sometimes have to spank her because she likes to misbehave when around me.But she always listens to K.(K. never spanks J. and usually her positive disciplining methods are very effective but I think spanking the misbehavior is better.Anyway J. likes K. very much(K. is like her 'second mother' - she doesn't only play with J.,she does everything I do with my daughter - clothing, feeding, disciplining).I'm afraid J. loves K. more than me.What should I do?
