If you don't eat your carrots you won't see in the dark!
Father Christmas can see if your being naughty, and he won't bring you any presents!
and my personal favourite i used to say when the ice cream man came round our streets 'Yes that tune means he's actually RUN OUT of ice cream'
What did your parents say? or what did/do you say to your kids?

15 years of raising children, and i don't think they have suffered...they laugh at what i used to say them, sometimes to have em stumped is quite peaceful instead of the Why can't I, please...it gives them something to think about!

my dad used to tell me all sorts of stories and to this day i'm still finding out truths about some of the things he told me. like...
all babies are born white with blue eyes and after a few hours they become their regular color.
too much sex makes you fat.
greens will put hair on your chest.
the word gullable is not in the dictionary.
no baby, I can't pick you up. I've got a bone in my back.
if you look in someone else's purse, the devil will get you.
if you kiss your elbow, you'll turn into a boy.
I'm goin to see a man about a dog. (i was always so let down when there was no dog).

they were always lying about their ages to me.

I don't know, I look back and think it's funny.

My father's favorite thing when we were really little was "I'll take you the second tuesday of next week." I still remember getting all excited and waiting. Now I do the same to my son. The first time something that my parents had always said to me was a sad day. I almost cried realizing that I was just like them :)

My mom used to say that if I smoked/drank coffee or pop/ didn't eat my vegetables it would stunt my growth. Now I kind of wonder if she was really telling the truth because I'm 20 and 5'1''...lol. I tell my girls that if they don't behave, Santa won't come to bring them toys this year.

when i acted in bad in public my mother would tell me she was going to leave me with security and have them take me to the boys home. She even would pretend and ask the security guard at the mall or wherever where the the room was for bad boys and he would play along and tell her. I would cry please don't leave me i will be good

My mom used to say that if I didn't eat all of my food [when we were at restaurants] the police would come.
lol thanks...I definitely ate all of my food too.

I used to like it when she fed me better..so she'd say that it wasn't as healthy and the germs wouldn't eat the food if I didn't feed myself.

lol.
